Claimed to be British Gas and wanted to check mpan numbers as error in our post code area. When challenged if you are British Gas check it yourself on my bill ! They became very persistent ringing back repeatedly very pushy they did not like it when I said I checked their number and they were scammers .
Allegedly calling from Pozitive Energy about a mismatch in our supply number and meter serial number. He wanted a number from our electricity bill which I didn't have to hand. He arranged to call back later, by which time I had found the comments on this website, so did not give any further info. Malmesbury, Wilts
Do not give them any details. Definitely a scam caller and quite aggressive with it.
Claimed to be from Smartest Energy. I think the scam is you give them the meter number and then they switch suppliers from who you use. They don't give up though.
Caller said they were from Smartest Energy and knew a surprising amount about our account. Could see what their angle was as we didn't talk about bank accounts. We spoke to our real suppliers afterwards and warned them not to take any action from this number.
A scam call Stated we had 2 postcodes on our account and bill was wrong and they were sorting it. As for others who have had this, they were fishing for details, asked to put in writing and the call was ended.
Said they were from EON and there was a problem with our payments, wanted more information about us. Trouble is we're with a different energy company. SCAM.
Saying from Eon - meter reading wrong. SCAM SACM SCAM! I Put phone down ,extremely rude, called back 10 times and even from a different no:01143602526- DONT GIVE THEM INFO!
Same scam about postcode errors and to give electricity account details. Yeah okay. Kept the poor English speaker jerk on the phone for a while then gave him some French.
Claiming to be from British Gas Lite. Said there was a mix-up with our post code and that and they had made a billing mistake by ,which they they have noticed and consequently would NOT be taking £489 by direct debit. Wanted to get our actual meter reading. We are not with British Gas Lite so it is a scam.
Claimed to be calling from Smartest Energy, as with other comments on here, definitely not legit
Called with some details that matched our energy provider, but when challenged for more info they got defensive and said they are only from the "meter department", when I asked them to quote our meter number they hung up. Definitely a scam, but they are getting sneakier, beware people!
this is the fifth time we have received a call from this number claiming that our gas and electric bills are incorrect, they do not give up!
Told me they were from Scottish Power and that I had multiple people with different energy accounts linked to my address due to a technical issue they were having with their online information. Wanted me to give them my supplier code off my invoice. Hung up.
Allegedly calling from Eon Next about a mismatch in our postcode and meter serial number. I called Eon and they advised it is a scam to obtain your electricity information so they can have enough information to cease your contract with your current provider and move you on to someone else. The last 3 digits of a meter serial number are available for anyone to find. The caller persisted and then hung up when I said I wasn't going to provide any further information.
Very aggressive call received 02/10/2023 claiming to be from our electricity supplier saying there had been an error on our bill, wanting us to confirm invoice details.
Scam - not to be trusted. They asked for the meter number from our latest electricity bill, but couldn't even provide the name of our current electricity supplier, then insisted they represent all of them! Then, when I refused and asked them to write to me or send a representative to the address they became threatening.
Scammer 'calling from your water and electricity providor'
Claimed wrong postcode on the account and would have gone on to ask me meter details except I knew it was a scam call.
Called saying from EDF and that our DD didn't go out and so wanted more details from us to confirm who we were...
PERSISTANTLY CALLING TELLING US WE HAD A DIRECT DEBIT ERROR BUT KNEW NO OTHER INFORMATION AND KEPT ASKING FOR INVOICE NUMBERS
Claiming to be from British Gas, said there was a problem with our account and they had made a mistake, by taking over £600 more for our electricity... SCAM SCAM SCAM
Trying to gain information about our energy supply.
Said we had a problem with our British Gas Electric account, could not quote our account number when challenged. Scam
Said our postcode is wrong on the electric bill and wanted some more details to correct it, couldn't give me the number of our electric meter. Scam.
