Unfortunately I fell for the scam as I checkd my Paypal account and could see a transaction request from Clemment Tyler on my dashboard. Stupidly I called the number which was supposedly answered by a Paypal customer service rep and spoke to this really nice indian guy who told me he would sort this transaction out for me. During this long drawn out process they managed to change my password on my Paypal account, how I don't know as I didn't give them any information about my account. I actually use two forms of access, password and authenticator! As my Barclays bank card was saved on my Paypal account they were able to clear my bank accounts including savings of everything by asking me to log into my banking app so that they could credit my account and confirming my card with the card reader!! My MBNA credit card was also saved and they tried to make two transactions on there but were unsuccessful as the transactions were declined. They even had the nerve to phone MBNA and as them to confirm my online banking user name!! This whole experience has left me feeling sick and like the dumbest idiot on the planet. I really hope it doesn't happen to anyone else!!

I've has exactly the same thing today - from Charlotte Bosco??? Changed my password on Paypal and cancelled this immediately. How bloody scary is that though?? I went sick when I read the email and looked at my paypal account. I didn't ring the number on the email.

I had same request to pay Trisha Mc £890.00. Stupidly I called the number given but soon realised it was a scam when he texted me a code which it said not to pass on to anyone but he insisted I could tell him. I cancelled the request.

Same here, (yasmin lopez in my case) I suspect to get me to call the number. Initial email is genuine, money has indeed been requested, (I logged into PayPal independently) but the scammer inserts the message about it being fraudulent, asking you to call the number to cancel. Not that daft, I si.ply cancelled the request.

Called PayPal on their contact number 0203 901 7000. Spoke to rep at PayPal, they are aware of this, and it is under investigation. I was advised to cancel the request via desktop and reassured me that the money will not be taken form my account. DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER ON THE TRANSACTION!!

Received a message from PayPal warning me of a fraudulent transaction on my account (request for £890 from Lynda Downs) . Message with the transaction told me to call this number within 12 hours or the amount would be debited from my account.

Dont call the number, they are scammers. I called them and played along. They are abusing the request function in PayPal. I have reported to Pay Pal. They are fraudsters.

I have had the same request as above but from Michael Vallejos. I have canceled the payment I would suggest anyone who gets the same to contact PayPal but cancel the transaction first!

Exactly the same here. Gloria Sejas put a payment request of £890. The thing that bothers me is , the email arrived to my inbox as a trusted source. From PayPal.co.uk. Reported to paypal and closed my account. I don't use it often enough to warrant this stress.

DO NOT GIVE YOUR DETAILS AWAY OR SEND THEM MONEY! This is a well known scam involving this number that tries to make you send money to stop a "fraudulent transaction". This is a scam, do not send them anything, you are not at risk. You will not be able to recover your money if you do send money to these scammers.

Forward it to [email protected]. I did and got auto acknowledgement. I'm sure they will have quite a few reports of this one today.

Exactly the same with me obviously a payment scam - cancelled the request and reported to PayPal via their bot

Same email as everyone else only mine was from a Kim Duran. Logged into my PayPal account and cancelled the transaction from there. Also changed my password for good measure! DON'T FORGET TO LOG INTO YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT AND CANCEL THE PAYMENT REQUEST!

Ive gone into my account and cancelled the request, then also contacted them on 02039017000 to make sure it was cancelled.

Received same mail as other today, cle@r fraud attempt, worrying that such a request can be made through Pay Pay. Maybe they should spend more time protecting their customers than threatening them with terms and conditions.

Me too. Got it this morning from Diane Isaacs. Check your Paypal - the request was in my accounts for £890.00. I cancelled it, but it probably wasn't necessary. I don't think it could go through without authorisation. I didn't know you could request a Paypal payment and I don't like that they had the correct name. The scam is to get you to call the number - I wonder what happens then.

Got exactly the same request from Carolyn Gonzales on Paypal, asking to call the same number. I live in Italy ! I'll try to cancel the request and report to Paypal. Thank you all

Exactly the Samer here except from from James Chambers, I tried to raise with PayPal, but seems no way to do that, odd that PayPal had no fraud facilities, once the payment has been canceled.

Message with the transaction told me to call this number within 12 hours or the amount would be debited from my account. Thing is, the message seems to look like it's part of "Veronica"'s transaction, not a part of any warning from PayPal. I suspect they're trying to rope me into calling the number, possibly to get my PayPal details out of me, so I've not called it - just cancelled the request.
