I sent a meter reading yesterday. I just saw a missed call on my phone from these people. Useless! I regularly submit weekly readings anyway! Nuisance.
Just had a call from 01942 614100 asking for my meter readings. I said that I submit them by Internet and was told that the companies ask them to ring twice a year to confirm the readings. Have just contacted my provider.
Called at 16.15 but rang off before I could answer. I've blocked the number now
Called at 7.25 in the evening, asked to speak to me and said he was calling from Npower. I told him I had moved out recently and he provided the last part of my post code to confirm the address and it turned out to be the house I moved out of over a year ago. He did not state why he was ringing.
The lady asked me to provide energy meter readings, she said she is calling from N Power. When I said that my meter readings was uploaded via web site account, she still force me to get my meter readings. It is very strange and look like someone want fraud your energy account identity.
Called up on behalf of Extra Energy To Verify they were genuine I asked for them to supply my meter number They confirmed it and I then provided readings
Got a call from this number with someone left a voicemail saying in a... Very Sopsticated voice "hello sir, I am calling on behalf of your energy supplier today, your electricity provider, behalf of your company. I am here to take a meter reading on your electricity. Can YOU PLEASE PROVIDE ONE by ringing 08457023461 quote job ref ********.. Q! " Can I ask is this legit? They rang my landline. And other then the dr and my mum and gran nobody has it! 99% of calls I get on landline are either mum or scam callers I ask this as I regularly do readings online and also every 4-6 months they ask for a photo to be uploaded (to double check the readings are correct).. So why do I suddenly need to call a premium rate number to give them a meter reading?
Callers claimed to be from (not on behalf of) nPower, asking me to give them the yearly verified meter reading that nPower should take themselves. How is a meter reading I provide going to be verifiable? I suspected that they're scamming nPower by charging them for visits when they've just made a phone call, but nPower advised me that they don't have an office or sub-contractor in Wigan. The number is now blocked.
I had a call from this number on my mobile. They claimed to be from NPower, calling to ask for our meter readings. I said, that's strange because I just submitted them online. The woman said they phone once or twice a year to ask for them by phone and could I please give her my readings. I said I'd do it online at a moment that suited me and she rang off. Then I went online to check the number and it obviously wasn't NPower.
Missed a call from this number and they didn't leave a message. Having read previous posts and especially as I'm not even with any of the mentioned electricity suppliers it sounds very suspicious. If they call again I will answer to try to find out more and add another post. If power companies are legitimately using these services the customer should surely be informed directly by them to expect calls from a third party and certainly the power company would know who third party was when the customer rings to check it out!
They called me claiming to be N Power and said they needed a meter reading. I am not with N Power and never have been. As soon as a I said this he hung up on me.
7.20p.m. Caller hung up when I answered so I don't know who it was.
I had a card put through my letterbox by Lowri Beck. They are a meter reading company on behalf of your supplier. Card had a number to call or website to submit readings. They knew my meter references and my provider. I had only done readings about a month ago. Will ignore it.
They rang on Saturday, checked they were speaking to me, and asked if I could take a meter reading, I said I couldn't and I'd submitted some not that long ago. They told me they were a meter reading company on behalf of npower and they'd call later in the week.
I used to have an account with Npower a year ago but we are with a different provider now. Our energy company only has my girlfriends details so don't know why this number would be calling me or why they have my number in the first place. They either have very out of date records or it's not legit.
