They do not have "your number" They just keep trying all (potentially) valid numbers in sequence until one actually connects.
Looked at my phone and saw I had a missed call. As I had a dominos being delivered I thought it might be from them, but glad I checked on here first!
Identity theft isn't a menial crime its serious, I had driving fines court letters and for things I've never done in my life.
Texted me today telling me someone attempted a huge money transfer using Revolut, and to call them if it wasn't me. I don't even use revolut.
Ny phone detected it as possible scam. Let it ring but never answered then came a voicemail message 'we have no agent available at the moment but if you need any help please call back' or something like that. Yeah right lol
Phoned twice while I was in bed as I work nights thanks to your remarks I have blocked them
Same as me me but not had my details stolen as far as I know.
Started receiving calls from '01269 839047' early mornings, after saying hello, it remand silent. I had 3 more calls of the same nature. checked my call history as i recalled having multiple calls weeks ago, an asian sounding man who claimed to be from BT saying that there are issues with my BT service. I've had nothing but problems with my BT services since beening installed!! So i listened to what he had to say (without disclosing the current situation with BT). He tried to tell me that my services were being disconnected at some point that day. I asked why, he garbled something really quickly half in English, half in a foreign language. I asked him to repeat & said i was in credit with my account. He said my bank or bank card may not be working & asked me to confirm my 'full bank account details' & my card number'!!! I was gobsmacked but then realised he hadn't once asked my name or account number. I told him in no uncertain terms that i didn't believe he was calling from BT, he got quite arsy with me & said "this is why the man of house should deal with financial things" i replied with a few choice words and hung up. The calls kept coming for the next 4-6 hours but i ignored them and tried blocking the number. Now, however the calls have started again, with the same area code but the last few digits are different! It flashed up as a SPAM call but i answered anyway...same accent, same script! If they are reading this "Sod off & get a p**sing proper job like the rest of us" x
Pretended to be National Debt Advice. Called me by full name. Started asking about any loands, debts etc. Told them that it's not of their fucking business and they hung up.
A British sounding lady who said "Hello I've had i formation that you were involved in a car accident that wasn't your fault" to which I sternly replied "No". She was apologising when I put the phone down. Very odd. Didn't offer me my name or anything.
Received a call from an Asian man asking me details about my computer. When I asked if he would have sex with me he hung up. I guess he wants flowers and a meal first. He hasn't been in touch since. Sad face emoji!!
Our telephone numbers, be they landline or mobile, do NOT belong to us. They are just assigned to us. Companies, including BT Orange, and Vodaphone etc. 'SELL' off to other people. They still belong to them but the phone numbers are used for ''marketing'! Only numbers but no other information. I am wondering whether this could be seen as an invasion of privacy and should not be done as in some way could be a breach of the Data Protection Act. Someone needs to look into this in-depth. This is leading to harassment. I have many many of these calls and texts every day. None of which are answered but are more than annoying. When you block the call they seem to be able to change the last two digits and it starts all over again.
Love to be able to be quick thinking like a friend who said he was a homocide police detective investigating the recent murder of the person whose phone it was. He asked the caller how long he knew the deceased. When he last saw or spoke to the deceased. …. Classic!! I wish I had the quick whit to come up with such a response. 😂😂👏 All I did was to keep saying “no”. Over n over to everything the caller asked or said. Just no! I heard from someone else that they get you to say “yes” then use that as in a forced contract which they then say you agreed to. So any strange number I might answer I just start answering “no”. Or “ that is indeed so” … Aaahh these evil scammers!!!
They can't do anything if u haven't provided information
I'm gonna check out Jim Brown. Regarding mentioning the Indian accent, it is only as from an unknown number, 1st red flag 🚩 then Indian accent = 2nd red flag 🚩. The first much more helpful than the ignoranmouses who state its an 'Asian accent', Asian what? Chinese? Japanese? Pakistani? Or Indian? Someone said on here "these Indians are so deceitful" to that I say shut your racist bas**ed face, as Americans can be deceitful, so can Englishers, or Germans etc... from a British Indian Chick 🐥 BTW I'm gonna wait to block this number, gonna let them go through all thier garbage, record the whole message and at the end let them know I have a degree I can IT and have worked as an ICT corporate security manager. This is before I end the call with a stream of verbal nosh-tock and telling them to get a real job and look up the word morals. 😁 Keep safe kids, don't resort to racism over anything let alone a damned scam call of which we get hundreds in our lifetime. And have a happy good life :-D I'll let you know what happens. Now to Jim Brown
