Me: Hi it's Daniel (they probably knew that already, I answer all calls that way) Them: Hi this is from *garbled* support, are you looking for contractor roles at the moment? Me: No I'm not looking currently Them: Are you Permanent? Me: I'm not looking currently, sorry Them: Ok bye lmao
I've had same, I asked what their interpretation of debt is, silence !
I must admit, I found it amusing when they called me - I played along for a moment or two asking what the problem may be and whom was calling - Peter said he was from BT, I thanked him for is urgent call and asked if he minded me calling this number from my other phone to verify his identity - he said not a problem - he quickly put the phone down when I just said "thank you - my number may show up strange as I'll be calling from the police station cybersecurity squad" :-) had to giggle..
Today I received a call from this number. its literally a scam, block them
Had a call from this number; as with a number of other comments, started off as a 'genuine' call from 'BT' regarding my internet connection, and my router being somehow compromised, and that he has been told to disconnect remotely my router, as it has been hacked, (Odd that as I am actually in a Hotel) I asked him how he was able to get my telephone number?? as I am ex-directory and on the TPS so my number is off-limits, he got a little confused, didn't seem to know anything about the telephone preferences legislation, I asked him if he was from BT why he didn't know, he got flustered and hung up, (number added to an ever-growing list of blocked barred numbers
Got a call from an Asian woman who started shouting at me cause I wouldn’t switch my computer on , so she could talk me through a bt problem , I’m not with bt . But she still insisted I switch my computer on so she could HELP me with my pc problem, which I had no problem with my pc as I don’t use it , I use my iPad , I subsequently put the phone down . Didn’t hear from her again , I do t fall for scams like this especially when they are Asian with an English name , but I do try to wind them up then they usually put the phone down as they’re not getting anywhere .
Hi there, what they do if people fall for it, is they convince You to sit in front of your computer and type in an IP address which will give them remote access, they didn’t place a keylogger on your computer which records every single/you make on the keyboard and records every single site that you look at and can also collect your personal data because they will have access to all of your files
No, they dont have any information that they can use. if they had they would not need to call you. They are just fishing. They randomly generate and call numbers. Anyone can make up a number, just use one of the 5 digit prefixes, then randomly add 7 numbers and you have someone's mobile number. That is why they want to talk and get your name and other details
I received two calls this afternoon on my mobile, but my provider had marked them as suspected spam, so I did not answer. The first call was at 16.44 from 020 8695 4129, the second was at 18.16 from 020 8695 4877. I wish these forms of low life would leave us pensioners alone Ron M
Yes I've received several calls from people claiming to be from the C. A. B..... Not even saying on behalf of them... That that's who they are. I asked "so you are an actual employee of the Citizens Advice Bureau are you? Like you said they then just hang up. I presume surely that by now the C. A. B are, actually aware of this happening?
report the numbers, don't just block. if all you're going to do is block, you'll just end up blocking more and more. REPORT REPORT REPORT
not quite true when you say the fraud action line can't do anything as there's no financial loss. they can't open a case BUT...... We have to report every single number, text, email we get that we suspect to be scam to an organisation run by our government and that then works in the background to help stamp out this growing crime wave. It does nothing being smart on the phone with them or telling them where to go. as soon as they realise you know what they're at, they just move on to someone who is less versed. Block the number by all means but it also does nothing to help the cause. If we don't report everything, it's only a number or email, then nothing can happen. Us being clever with them just feeds their desire to skint us.
