flashed up on my phone as british gas calling. did not pick up and they did not leave a message. scam.
Said they were British Gas calling to make an appointment for installing new meters. When I refused, they hung up.
My mobile flashed up that this number was reported as spam. Woman claimed to be from "British Gas -home of the smart meter". Asked if I was Mrs X, and I'm not, so I hung up. Checked on here, yeah, scam.
This was a call from British Gas, probably a response for a recent boiler quotation I asked for. When I called the number I listened to a polite message from BG, saying that the call was not urgent.
Did have time to answer this it rang off so quickly - blocked number.
Called twice today took one of the calls mentioned a smart meter definitely a scam as British Gas installed nine a few years ago
Stated it was British Gas calling to change a non communicating meter to a new one. Knew my name and street. Didn’t know postcode or account number. I told the person that I was concerned about scam calls so would need to check with British Gas direct to confirm. They gave me a number that they wanted me to call and to tell them it was about changing a meter from type 1 to type 2 (obviously I didn’t) that number was 0333 200 4455.
Distorted, foreign, woman's voice. Said she was calling to arrange for installation of smart meter , which I haven't discussed or agreed to. Started saying that and she rung off. First call was this morning. Second call from this number early evening, but I was unable to reach phone before it stopped ringing.

Missed call, blocked as SPAM by my phone. When I phoned the number (with 141 prefix) get voice mail with message claiming it is from british gas but was not urgent - - no need to call back. Blocked & reported to BG, Vodafone & OffCom as nuisance caller
I answered. Lady saying my meter is out of date and I should think about getting an upgrade......presumably a smart meter. No thank you.
Claimed to be from British Gas offering to install smart meters. Told them I had smart meters so they then changed to mine are out of date. Told them the meters were only fitted recently and rung off. Had a second call from this number but when I answered no one said anything. Ended call, pretty sure it is a scam.
Called me from outside the UK Asian accent claiming to be from British Gas wanting to install a new smart meter I asked them if they could confirm an account number and they didn't answer me, but they did know my name, I told them that I didn't have any accounts with British Gas and they hung up. A few minutes later they phoned again and the call went on to my answer phone there call lasted over six minutes, when I checked the call there was just six minutes were silence. I phoned British Gas direct and they confirmed they didn't call me, they said they don't have the number on there data base Beware
Said she was from British Gas, that my meter was installed a long time ago and could be changed to a smart meter for no charge. Said no didn't want one, then she said £25 would be credited to my account if I did change. Said answer still no and she hung up.
Started calling me every other day, leave an answerphone message saying they are British Gas and after seeing the reports on here I do not respond. I have as today blocked the number
Called on Friday 25th August 2023 at 15:26, but when I picked up there was no response. Number now blocked.
Threatening debt collection for account arrears if I did not ring the contact number. Clearly a scammer because I do not have anything to do with British Gas.
British gas, SHARON. Asked our smart meter wasn’t taking readings. Said it does she hung uo, she knew my name and postcode…
Has rung twice, when answered they said they were from British Gas and wanted to upgrade my meter to a smart meter. I said no and hung up.
Non UK call in which a lady tried telling me about something of which I could not understand as her English was so very poor. I’ve Blocked the number.
Has rung us 3 times today, on answering all we get is blank line, no caller.
I missed call from this number then received a voicemail msg. Recorded msg saying from British Gas. Contact this number to stop marketing calls of a non urgent matter
Has started ringing every morning and evening at same time. First time I answered the caller said he was phoning to arrange for someone to come and install a smart meter . I told him the lady of the house was out. I got the number from 1471 and it was 03332029470. I called it back and a recorded female voice said it was British Gas. I think they may have recorded British Gas’s messsage. Either way it’s very annoying .
Claimed to be from British Gas saying my smart meter was not working and they wanted to send an engineer to look at it. They were looking at appointments to offer and I was put on hold - after waiting for a while, I hung up.
Said they were British Gas wanting to book a smart engineer but then could offer me any dates as there wasn’t an a engineer in my area. F
Foreign lady said she was British Gas. I hung up.
Said from British Gas, didn’t seem genuine or professional.

5.53pm 3/5/22. Wife answered - foreign gentleman who said he was from British Gas. Wife said we didn't have gas and he rang off. - SCAM
Said they were from British Gas calling regarding my boiler which was over 10 years old. I told them it wasnt and ended the call

Probable scam. Rang off as we didn't answer. They didn't wait for the answering machine to kick in.

Rang me on 19th November 2021 said they wanted to offer me an upgrade to what I don't know as I said I couldn't hear them and they disconnected
