I received a suspicious phone call from someone claiming to be from EDF. The caller stated that I had an outstanding debt and asked whether I could make a payment towards it. The caller took me through a security check. I then explained that I have been accepted onto the EDF Customer Support Fund. Under my arrangement, the outstanding debt is being held while I make payments towards my ongoing energy usage, and after nine months the debt will be cleared subject to the terms of the fund. The caller told me, "Yeah, but that's for ongoing usage. This debt needs to be cleared." I explained again that I had spoken directly with EDF the previous day and had already set up a payment arrangement for my ongoing usage because I had been accepted onto the Customer Support Fund. I therefore should not be making separate payments towards the outstanding debt. After I challenged the caller about this, she abruptly ended the call. I found the call extremely suspicious, particularly as the number displayed was an 0203 number and was not a recognised EDF number. I am reporting this because I am concerned that the caller may have been impersonating EDF and attempting to obtain payment from me.

Have a voice mail today and on Tuesday. Claiming to be Anna from EDF. I contacted EDF and they had no knowledge of who this was. Todays voicemail (They'd obviously not replaced) carried on talking in another language for several minutes laughing and joking.
Said they were from EDF and that they needed to discuss our business account but would only discuss it with a specific staff member (both of us could discuss the account as we were both named on it). Our account with EDF has been closed recently, all payments cleared and EDF would have known this . Checked the number as does not come up with EDF.
Said EDF but is scam Spam
Had a voice message through whatapp saying they are from EDF and to call them. Found this very odd so looked on EDF website and it does state the number is one they use (https://www.edfenergy.com/have-edf-energy-called-me). Still would advise caution.
They say they EDF but when I call EDF, they say to me there’s no outbound phone calls to you so clearly they are scammers so block them and report them for fraud
Said from EDF and said they could give me a huge discount if I went for a direct debit payment option. When questioned they were hesitant to answer saying that they will call me to take payment rather than me call them, suspicious and avoid at all costs also number came up as spam
