said they were from Virgin Media and wanted to talk about my package.
Now becoming a serious pain in the ass. Every day for the last week I get a silent call from this number.
This is due to a data breach at Virgin a few years ago. They have names, phone numbers and contract end dates, I think. They’re basically harassing me at this point. It’s never silence but it’s always the same call centre and the same pitch ‘we’re calling to review your account’. I checked the number with Virgin last year and it’s not one of theirs. Luckily I never give any data or have conversations with a company that cold-calls me, even one I’m a customer of. That rule saved me. They’re convincingly inept as a call centre! Every time I ask them to remove me from their list and they just ignore it. Sometimes they try to continue with their pitch. Blocked a number of theirs but it didn’t help. I suspect it’s quite a lucrative scam.
Lady with an Asian accent phoned saying she was from virgin media .Knew my name but as I no longer do anything like business on my phone spoke to her in Gaelic and then put the phone down . If she is a virgin media sales person why are virgin still phoning people up knowing all the scamming that is going on
Silent when answered
Claimed to be from Virgin media, female caller, pronounced Indian accent, asked for my partner (Virgin) account holder by name, said something about wanting to ensure we were getting the best value. I did I didn't think we were, we were planning to switch, the account holder wasn't available and we would sort out moving away by ourselves. At that point the caller made an excuse and hung up. Almost certainly scam consequence of large scale customer data leak from Virgin a couple of years back. https://www.virginmedia.com/help/data-incident
Have been phoning me from "Virigin" on several consecutive days. They say they want me to have the best choices from Virigin contract, They know my mobile number somehow (not supplied by Virgin.). They know my name forst line of my address, perhaps more details also. The high pitched gabbled chinese sounding accent of lady who phoned made her speech incomprehensible. Later a man called . He said he was phoning from the Phillipines, and that he was a Phillipino. He asked what sort of channels I preferred, saying that this information would help them to change my contract , the cost of which, he said was tio rise.. But not if i had fewer choices on the TV scheduke, he implied. please tell the "real" Virign all this if you can.
Received a call from this number. IT IS VIRGIN MEDIA. Firstly, they use a automated dialing system that will automatically dial numbers on their system, if the call is answered it will be automatically be transferred to an available operative, if non are available then the call will go silent or get cut off, which explains the silence some are experiencing. My operative explained they were calling about the switch over to the new fibre telephone system next February 2024, and asked if I needed assistance with switching over, from a engineer, or would I be able to hook up the new adapter to the router myself if they were to just send it in the post. I said I was tech savvy and they could just send out the adapter. She replied that's great and they would just do that. She bid me a good day and that was it. I agree that virgin should be using a system that identifiys then and not just a 0800 number that can be quite suspicious these days.
They know my mobile number, my landline and my wife's number. They called each daily until I blocked them. They claim to be from Virgin, but I have contacted Virgin who have no record of this number. Assume it's a scam as they ask for personal information for "security".
Difficulty understanding the caller who said they were from VM. They knew my name and mentioned loyalty and offers. They then mentioned security questions, at which point I repeated that I was struggling to understand and the call was ended. Is this really VM?
REALLY? It's not a publicised VM number, maybe an old one that's been taken over by spammers. I answered to silence, as others have said then it rang off. VM customer service is 0345 454 1111.
They pretend to be virgin media but they are not. They are scammers. Virgin media will NEVER call you over the phone, they will email you if you need them. Please don't listen to the other comments here and don't lose money.
It's vigin media. Calm down everyone.
Keep getting these calls then silence. I block them but few days later they are back phoning me..
