Called twice before 3pm. I scan unknown numbers. The scan showed someone called Alan from O2 asking me to please answer his call. I didn’t answer because I don’t deal with O2. Blocked and deleted!
Caller said she would send me a new SIM card because new technology meant my present one would stop working soon. The new card would arrive next day, she just needed me to confirm some personal details. I have had lots of calls from'O2' in the last few weeks, offering special deals - callers often have strong foreign accents - so I was suspicious. She sent a text for me to sign in to my account with a code. I have not responded and I did not answer her second call.
Caller said was from O2 offering me updated SIM card as my present one is old and would be terminated the following day. She had my number and wanted me to verify my email address which is when I became uneasy and suspicious and ended the call. The caller tried to call back straight away but I refused the call and switched off my phone. I don't know if this was a legitimate call or a scam call.
Caller stated she was from O2/Virgin. Said she was issuing new SIM card. Requested email and sent link. Unsure whether legitimate. ? Anyone has any knowledge of this
