I've bought nothing from Curry's but received a couple of calls from this number. I didn't answer, and just muttering was left on the voicemail. I blocked the number; even so, they've rung half a dozen times since.
This is either Curry's or a tele sales team working on their behalf, it is not a criminal scam but i would class as a typical modern day legitimate commercial scam by trying to sell you a product care and repair package for a monthly fee which of course on a brand new product you wouldn't need for at least a year after purchase and even then i personally would never enter into such an agreement, but some people may like what they offer.
Currys -- seems to be genuine as they knew my name and recent order. Didn't ask for any personal details, just wanted to sell insurance policy for purchased product.
Definitely a scam! Who the hell rings at 7pm and doesn’t speak when the call goes through?
called claiming to be currys, but isnt.
They phoned earlier today. I didn't answer and they left no message. They phoned again a few hours later and I answered. The guy said he was Currys PC World and asked me if my purchase was for collection/delivery etc etc. I questioned him on this stating that if he was Currys PC World then he should have access to this info. His reply was that he didn't. That info was not available to him apparently. I asked if he worked for a 3rd party company on behalf of Currys PC World, but he indicated that he worked for Currys PC World directly. He then went on to ask me why I purchased my product (a new purchase/to replace an old one etc) to which I stated that I didn't want to divulge that information. He quickly but politely ended the conversation. I'm not sure if this is a scam, or simply Currys PC World trying to gather data.
Currys about my deliver, no passwords or info was asked. Actually good info he told me about time slot. So deffo not a scam
Not spam at all! Just Curry's to talk about a recent order.
Phoned about my order. Sounded quite professional and new specifics about the order. However he kept saying sweet which was a dead giveaway
They lied to you - It is their Sales team. Currys do this all the time, you'll probably get a call when the warranty expires in a years time, from the same number, to see if you want to extend it. Clearly the generic call centre haven't a clue.
Not a Scam - It is Currys sales team. Spoke to one advisor after fist call received - Call centre advised it's not Currys which had me worried. Phoned Currys back on the second call to report, and the second advisor told me it was them, and that the sales team are confirming the order placed online and delivery dates.
Curry’s- just bought a dryer....
They rang me today claiming to be from Curry’s, knew all my information and order. Then asked if I’d like to take out insurance on my product and if so they would need my card account number, I got suspicious so asked them to call me back in half an hour so I could check things out, never rang back.
Answers call no answer and hung up on me
