Just received a call from this number, I googled it before I was going to answer and after reading some of these comments I'm glad I didn't.
Weird homosexual Pakistani guy calling me about 'new dealings' on mobile contract. Told him I was not interested. He then began to tell me I had a lovely 'woice' (voice) and begged me to stay on the phone.
01483 694442 Just called me. Claiming same thing . However when I told him he had my name wrong he was adamant he he’d all correct details. And I didn’t know my own name. When I asked what scam he was trying on me he hung up .
It’s when you go to work and you have to meet people like this, horrid ugly specimens
Claim to be calling about Avis life insurance which I don’t have.
Don’t be concerned, they reel the numbers off a list at random
Got called by an Asian guy with a heavy accent (suprise surprise). He claimed to be from EE saying something about reducing my bill as I'm a loyal customer. My dumbass had just woke up and I gave him a password reset code thinking it was a 2 step authentication. Within about 30 seconds my brain turned on and I've just spent the last hour changing all of my passwords as a precautions. Lesson learned always read any message you get when it involves a code. Oh and after I hung up he called back on a different number a number which is actually an EE inbound number which is scary to be honest. He even said you can Google the number and I think it is the upgrades line but the number is 0800 956 6000
This code is from Wales. It is an Ammanford Number.
Lau TV One , out of countless of tricks used by these not very nice people is to get us to call them back, A very sad sign of the times is us having to distrust everything and everyone until we know better. If you or your phone doesn't know or recognise the number, odds on it's a scammer. Let your answerphone do the work, then check the number. Don't waste your time with where the number is from, it's fake, some realistic, others not so. We, as a nation , have an awful lot to learn, sadly we're not. As things are the govt and the phone companies are NOT going to help us! Only we can stop this.
David, if it were that easy this muti million pound business of theft and corruption simply would not exist. The phone companies (allegedly) take a cut both setting up and on the calls on these invisible numbers for these rather unsavoury people to hide behind and continue robbing us, even though they say they're doing all they can to stop it. Can't fathom it myself.
Guys, these people will try *EVERYTHING and ANYTHING*. They prey on the less technically inclined by using test statements, for example, "I've turned our Internet off" and listening to your reply. If it's "why?" they're in. If "no you haven't", they move on. They can't access your computer or internet without getting your IP address and other technical and private info, unless you give access through an app. Please don't be tricked by them. Just keep them talking if you want, give then NO REAL INFORMATION. But waste their time, pretend you're doing what they ask, ask what their mother would say about what they're doing, but don't believe a word they say and DON'T LET ANY INFO SLIP. Me, I just don't answer, but if you want to you can waste their time, but remember, if you answer, they will add a note to your number saying "this person answers" and you may get more calls from others too. I hardly get any because I don't give my number out unless absolutely necessary, and I ignore the rare numbers I don't recognise. I don't decline it, I just turn the sound off, so there's no interaction and it wastes their time. We need to unite against these scum, and the way to do that is by teaching the older generations, and then we can then give them a collective "FUCK OFF!" from us all.
The longer you keep scammers on the telephone, the less time they have to scam someone more vulnerable.
Bt will never close a money making scheme, because they don’t give a f###
What puzzles me is why people take time to talk to these scammers then make it sound like they are wise to these sort of scams, why not just ignore them and get on with something a little more important ? .
