These people are not using phones they are using computers to imitate phone numbers Its called number spoofing
Have had a series of calls from this number. blocked again!!!
Oh my goddess the same people called me and my partner the other day saying they’re from citizens advice and my boyfriend told me straight away that it’s a scam and to hang up as he was an Indian or Pakistani man with an English name peter or Carl he’s said anyway there scammers and are dangerous.
Fed up of these calls my Father Died recently and since I went to the registrar to report his passing I have been called all the time from different numbers and different companies on my mobile and I have never given my number to anyone other than Friends or relatives before or since so these companies must have a way of getting into there computers which is very worrying indeed
I have had 1 call today form the number above and this number 01413568200 Both saying they were custom and excise and I have would be arrested if I didn't stay on line and talk to them.
No , they do not have your info , they call random numbers and hope to find someone gulible enough to believe them
There is nothing B.T can do about this . The calls are coming from India , they buy a u.k number and use that , or route the calls via the internet to make it look like they are in the U.K . Check out Jim Brown on YouTube
Nice way of dealing with these scammers , they dont know what to do when you react with ''o.k. The aim is to get you to turn on your computer and then they guid you through installing a program that gives them remote access, then they can look at and steal all your personal information . The other thing they can do is lock you out of your own computer using sys key , then they offer to unlock it for a fee but they say that a virus has locked you out , not them . Indian scammers make millions every year from this , they prey on the gulible . Ther is a guy on youtube named JimBrown , he is Irish and he hunts down these people and does what he can to disrupt them
You did the right thing . Its a scam. He would have wanted to gain remote access to your computer , look for bank accounts and other personal details . Block the number
The part about 75% being owned by B.T is maybe correct in terms of them owning the cables that your internet provider rents from them but the rest is garbage . He would have wanted you to load and connect through a thing called ''team viewer'', or another like it , that way he has access to your computer to look for bank accounts and personal details , he could also lock you oput of your computer and basically blackmail you into paying to get access to your computer . Best thing is just hang up on these idiots
Your info is probably intact . These people call random nunbers and then start with the scare tactics , block the number and live a happy life
If the guy rings pretend to put ur computer on then say waiting fir windows to load if he asks what window operating have u got reply with i have lots of windows in my house which one do u want bt would not ring u
Its obvious there are too many scams - why don't the government and councils, with all the money they get from us , regulate these false caller lines?? Petition needed!
Just an advice: do not call back an unknown number if you do not expect any important call. Avoid calling numbers that you find here as they might charge you extra.
When i tried to report this scam to BT they directed me to the fraud action line but they were not able to do anything as no money exchanged hands. you'd have thought that BT should be better at dealing with this as its their name these scammers are using, instead they pass you on to fraud action line. and they can't do anything unless you have been conned out of money. this allows the scammers to continue trying to con others. SHAME ON YOU BT for not investigating.
