SPAM - Supposedly from Scottish Power (they aren't) wanted me to book Smartmeter installation. Knew my name and email. Pressed me to 'make an appointment'. I asked what number they were calling me from - they said 08005593811. But number coming up on my phone was 03452700201 - I told them this and they said 'it was because this the booking department'. I told them to send me an email (they had my email address and asked if was 'active'!) - and I got one from [email protected]. But that is NOT the Scottish Power proper email, which is [email protected]. This company - wherever they're based - is a spam organisation. they said all their calls were recorded for 'quality and training' so I asked them to send me a link so that I could have a copy of the recording. I could only have that if I gave them my postcode. I refused. So I asked them to take my name off their call list. They said they couldn't unless I gave my postcode (or the last two letters). I checked out the other number they gave me (0800559331 - the one they said was their booking department) and that too appears to be a scam. I've been contacted repeatedly by these people and I think it's time for blocking the numbers - and reporting the email address as fake.

Left a voicemail saying they were from Scottish Power and asked me to call back on 0345 270 0201. Had heard that there was a scam going around for smart meter installations.

They left a pre-recorded message saying they were Scottish Power and asking me to ring back. Thanks to your previous reporter saying they want you to install a 'smart' meter - I won't be ringing back - because a) you have to pay for a low-rate call, and b) I spoke to one of their representatives who rang two days ago and I had said I don't want one, and it is NOT a legal requirement to have one.
