got this phone call today but missed it & number i do not know but checking it on here it's a scam so beware it's doing the rounds nicely, glad i missed it.

called then hung up when apple asked for their name for screening

London number tried again.

This is automatically coming up by EE as suspected spam. Said they were from EDF. I asked why EE had flagged the number as spam and they said it was a new number, which seems fishy. They also confirmed they were calling from a Philippines call centre, which raises more flags. Told them to call back from a recognised number

09:25 Bottom line: wanted to email me a link that I should click on "to create an account". Indian accent. "Chito from your energy provider, from EDF". Knew my name. Said he was chasing up a reading, which could have been true because I haven't done one for a while. Asked if I was near the meter. I said "hold on," because I wanted to check my emails to confirm I'd got a bill just yesterday, and he must have thought I was off to read the meter, because he was suddenly very urgent - "WAIT - I can offer you another option". The other option was to give me access to my account online (which I've had for years) so that I can submit my reading online, do this that and the other. He would simply send me an email with a link that I could just click on and then set up a password. I was silent and he started asking again was I near the meter, would I be interested in having an online account etc, and eventually I said "I don't answer questions from random people who phone me up" and he said goodbye then hung on the line silently for at least another minute.
