First call saying they were from EE and that my sim card was out of date. Wife googled, discovered it was a scam and I then hung up

They said it was EE, but they wanted to give me 40% off if I could confirm how much I paid for my last bill. I said I would not confirm any details to them without recognizing the number and she said "I wont force you, bye bye". I have since called EE to speak to them about it and provided them with the number and they have confirmed it was not them and it therefore a scam.
