Came up as suspected spam. Answered to an English bloke from Home Cover for Thames Water named Maurice. Said my plumbing and drainage cover was due to expire and he could offer me a reduced rate. Asked to confirm sort code and account number which I stupidly did. It was then I looked at my cover which is with Home Serve not Home Cover, this is why it threw me. I then started questioning Maurice who said they had taken over Home Serve and I would get a call from customer service to confirm the new DD. It was then I checked the number and read these comments. Ashley called me back to confirm the set up and I told him I didn't want to proceed and that Maurice had misled me. He got defensive at thus and I said this sounds like a scam and to remove my details from their record. He was not happy with my response but said he would cancel the policy. I will keep a close eye on my account for any DDs set up.
As above comments but supposedly on behalf of Welsh Water
Didnt recognise no so didnt answer looked at previous comments and blocked have rung prevously im from South Wales
As with the above but this time said that Home Cover were tied to Severn Trent. Never heard of or paid any money to Home Cover!
Exactly the same as the above responders. VERY CONVINCING PEOPLE. This time it was affinity water! Disgusting people.
They said that they were from Home Cover, operated by Southern Water, and that my Direct Debit for home plumbing cover was being reduced this year, but to get the new rate I had to give them my bank account sort code and account number. 3 different people came on the line to "reassure" me........ but when the last one said about a one-off payment I made 3 years ago I knew it was a scam. They were on the phone for 15 minutes, but even though they spoke very nicely and sounded plausible, it did not ring true, and the episodes of Rav Wilding's "Scam Interceptors" sprang to mind. I have never had to update a Direct Debit over the phone before, so that was when I began to smell a rat. Scum of the Earth......
Came up as spam, Said they were from Home cover UK. Also said that they were calling tell me I used to pay for insurance cover for drainage 3 years ago through Welsh water - and that they were not going to be collecting these payments as a one off. ( I have no recollection of making a one off payment to Welsh water for any such service) I asked why - if this was paid 3 years ago, but had stopped, why were they only just contacting me. I asked them to send me details in the post - which they said they had - then blamed the post office for not delivering the letter and refused to send any further information out in the post. He couldn't seem to tell me if the policy had expired, or was up for renewal (after 3 years??) I advised I was going to end the call and did - then he rung me back to ask me why I had hung up on him
Call come up as suspected spam so did not answer, they did not leave a message.
