Scam, time waster, don't answer this caller..........

i did not answer but they keep calling me and have called on at least 3 occasions. stalkers.

This call comes through to my home line and mobile many times but never answer. These callers occur too much how can they be stopped.mthey should be as have read if you call them they're on premium no.

Have had several messages regarding a claim for a car accident. Really annoying as it was a Deer hit - i dont think the deer was insured so how they expect to make a counter claim i do not know. How do you block it?

I keep getting calls on my mobile from this number. The puzzling thing is that the mobile is used for emergencies only, as my wife is very disabled. Only three people have the number along with Orange. How could they have got hold of it? Are they hacking or is someone at Orange passing on numbers to these firms? Recently when driving on the motorway, the mobile rang. It had to be an emergency - that's the nature of this phone. I had to drive "quickly" to the next exit, ready to turn around only to find that it was this stupid firm. They could have caused a serious accident. We need some type of very heavy fines that can be imposed on these companies that reflects the amount of annoyance and upset that they cause. Surely the telephone companies could do something to stop them.

I have had a call from this number 08437240459 sometimes twice or three times everyday for the last 2 weeks! including today!! 15/12/14 So I would like to tell them politely to.. stop it or I will hunt them down and tell them personally I have NOT been in a car accident anddd i DON'T need a new bloody boiler!! I have had numerous calls from this number about a variety of things - PPI; new boiler and now accident claim. They are all from this one number and if I manage to speak to anyone they say they are only about one of these things. basically they are driving me nuts

I keep getting an unwanted call from this number

If someone is minded to take a risk and answer a call try: 1. Requesting Head Office name and address 2. Advise them that you are now going to write to the Head Office telling them that from now on you are going to charge £20 an hour for dealing with any calls regardless of number from the company. This in effect establishes a contract 3. Advise caller that he/she may want to do all that is possible to remove your number off their call lists to avoid these charges and them potentially being held responsible by their employer At this point you have done nothing other than spend a little time talking to the operator. My experience is that calls will very likely stop as a result of these initial steps. If they dont however you can try the next steps 4. Send required letter to the company - does not need to be in any specific form just sufficient so that they are clear what you going to take as agreed 5. Record details of any future calls - no need to answer them - just allow mark up 30 seconds for each one 6. Once you have got a reasonable amount to justify your effort send an invoice to the company setting out the calls and your time spent, with a copy of your letter saying you will use the Small Claims proces to recover the cost. 7. Based upon the above I understand that a Small Claims court will find in your favour if you proceeded (google Daily Mail 'Cold caller' article 26th October 2012), clearly however you do not need to be proceed. Obviously the above will take a little effort and may not work , so people will have to decide whether it is worth it and there is potentially some risk of inadvertantly encouraging more calls. Think we need however to try and fight back against these people as the Government are clearly not interested possibly as they might see it as anti-business / free-market or maybe just because they are useless/uncaring. The other point I would make is that the caller is probably in a no-win situation given the limited alternative employment opportunities that exist in many parts of the country so you may want to go easy on him or her. Hope this is helpful.

If your phone cant block it, link to "mr number" app on the net download /install it and you can add it to the blocked list - you wont even hear them ring.

Every firkin day these morons call about the accident that several callers refer to above. Very very annoying.

Got a call from 0843 724 0459, didn't answer as I didn't recognise the number. I looked the number up and found this website. Suffice it to say that the number was blocked immediately.

Had lots of calls from this number about claiming for an accident I have never had. Thanks for the heads up about blocking which I have done. What I don't get is that the government is all about putting the country on its feet which means that when people are busy working they should not keep being distracted by these scammers not to mention the jobs self employed people might have missed having their phones engaged when a prospective customer gets the engaged call and moves on to the next supplier. It is about time all this stopped and they came down real tough on these people and send them to prison.

Third call in past week from this number - recorded message saying that according to their records I've had a no fault accident. It's rubbish and absolutely infuriating.

Number keeps calling my mobile phone. Now I see all the comments I bet its about an accident which there were no injuries and I have told umpteen people we have nothing to claim, other insurance paid bumper to be fixed. I am going to block this number. I hate these spam calls so much if I answered I would really scream at them.

Had about twelve missed calls from this number the the last two to three hours. They've also been ringing me for over two weeks' It's clearly spam so avoid people!

Repeated calls, however ignored as knew it was some sort of scam to do with an accident that never actually happened. I advise anyone who is in the same situation to ignore the calls, and block number if you can.

This was alarming as I have only just booked a flight! Checked out the number to see if genuine and came across this thread. Have now blocked this number also.

Get a call everyday after 5pm, never answered it because didn't recognise the number.

I keep getting this number calling me 6 times a day! I don't answer as I don't answer if I don't reconise the number but it really is a pain and I can't block the caller on my phone.. I've been cought by these once before... These numbers should not be aloud and foreign ppl that are doing should be stopped!! What's happened to privercy in the country and why are they aloud to get away with it???.... If it was a English ppl doing it they jails be full up.... This need to stop... I get called about 3 times a day on my work phone from this number. I never pick up a number I don't recognise, so thanks for highlighting this as eeeeejit spammers.

Just had a call from this number at 7.05pm on a Sunday. I get so many of these spam calls that I didn't reply to any number I don't recognise; if they are genuine they will leave a voicemail..

Spam caller. It's becayse if these recorded message I've stopped using or accessing my voicemail as it was codying me a fortune checking messages!

Call from 0843 724 0459 Luckily I missed it and have now blocked them. Am unsure as to how they received my number. I'm very careful with which companies I give it out to and make sure to read their fine print. On Vodafone - not sure if that's a theme.

yes, several calls unanswered. Thanks to those of you who have posted what it is - now blocked. for information Ofcom state that charges for these numbers vary from 9p - 41p per minute. I would guess this is nearer the 41p than 9p!

Every day this number rings me - always at the same time - with a recorded message asking me to press 5 because I've had an accident in the last year and a half. Yesterday I did press 5. Today, 25/11/2014, I received a call from a human (Liverpool accent). He asked me to tell him about my accident and so I asked him to tell me, because they tell me I've had an accident. Told him that every time they ring me I will press 5 and waste their time, just like they waste mine. He slammed the phone down.

Various messages above about blocking the number, which is a good idea. On a Smartphone, there's an option in the blocking list (Starts With..). If you put 0843 in there and press 'SAVE', it shouldn't matter if they change their number to another 0843 #, they're BLOCKED! Of course, these spammers could always use another prefix..or just withold their number. :(

I just got this call this evening on my mobile whilst at home. I ignored the unfamiliar number and I'm glad I did! I avoided the cold caller nonsense. Number is now blocked! One down and many more to go.

Apparently I was injured in an accident which their records show I am entitled to claim about - They're obviously not up to speed because I must have amnesia as I don't recall anything of the sort! Why are these intellectually insulting companies still trading?

Scam caller telling me I can claim on an accident that I'd never had.

Persistant pest! I have tried blocking this number after several missed calls and it clearly shows in my reject list. Yet I managed to some how get a recorded message this evening on my answer machine from them '"Press 5 on phone now" Then it went dead. Deleted.

Recently received a call from this number didn't answer it as I don't answer numbers I don't recognise. Although I have a call before from a Sheffield number with regards to an accident I've never had!

Apparently I can be compensated for missing my flight, no passport, do not do planes like my feet on the ground was expecting call re tumble dryer delivery so when missed call rang it back not happy.

my brother works in Family Liaison with local police...Scammers like these called a number only known to police....Brother kept him talking while tracing the call...they were in a house in London and were arrested,because they were also involved in crash for cash scams and fake passports/driving licenses............bad mistake ringing police lol..

they keep phoning me too, i have shouted sworn threatened them. they still ring, next time i will make an appointment. i kinda feel sorry for the guy who comes out. hope he likes hospital food

These clowns seem to have got hold of my mobile number and it seems that I cannot block it, so like always I just have to put up with it. When is this going to be made illegal, or if it already is, then maybe policed properly. If anyone know how you can block a number via O2 it would be nice to know?

If you have calls like that and know it's a scam just block the caller. On iPhone its just going to info about the number and chose block caller - can't reach you from this number again. I have quite a nice list with blocked callers like that but it's worth it :) Don't anser. Check online the number and block it for future

I keep getting these 0843 calls. I keep putting them on my "block call list" but they keep changing the number. Just now it was from 08437240459. As I am waiting for a family member to call I ran to the phone only to have these people hang up before I answer. So annoyed I could scream.

Called back (withholding my number) & its recorded message re "£550 compensation due to ur recent delayed flight; pls hold for a friendly claims manager" I ain't flown in approx 25 years & it wasn't delayed! Absolute nonsense - another scam to see if ur number is live. IGNORE/BAR NUMBER!

Had over 70 calls from this no. if I reject on mobile my house line rings immediately from same no. I don't give out my house no to avoid nuisance calls and am tps registered. When I blocked this no on my mobile i started to get calls from 02920329658 using exactly same method. Had recorded message from 0843 no. saying I can get compensation for my delayed flight (i haven't got a passport and do not fly as a lifestyle choice) and another about replacing my boiler (had new one fitted a year ago numpties) just wonder if the two may be linked since calls from one started after I blocked calls from the other. Keep reporting these numbers to tps online and we may be able to get something done.

Just had another call from this number telling me about my 'delayed flight' and claiming compensation. Well must be due a lot of compensation as the last time we flew was 2008. Also told me about a new boiler for FREE then advised it costs £25.00 per month - which they would stop otherwise I am going to start getting rude

Many (automated/recorded) calls from this tribe - PPI, Car Accident and most recently boiler replacement services. Talked to them once and asked they remove my number from their database as I have no need for their services, they said they would do that. Had one of their (horrific) recorded message calls the very next day. Bunch of scammers sat in some Portakabin somewhere taking money from the vulnerable - low life scum

Called my work number today, which is published nowhere online or used to sign up for anything, so must either be using automatic dialing in the hope of scoring working mobile numbers or Vodafone have sold numbers on. Don't answer it as it confirms your number is genuine
