This company pretended to be from BT Openreach and asked if we were having any problems with our broadband. They said they had received calls from several people who were having problems in our area and were contacting everyone to see if it was part of a wider problem. They recommended buying a 4g or 5g router to resolve the issue. He further advised that this would probably come at a cost. He said he would conclude his investigation by the end of the day and contact me tomorrow to give his recommendations based on what he had found. I asked what those recommendations would look like and he said he would probably direct me to a 3rd party provider who would be able to help me overcome the problems. I can only surmise that the 3rd party provider would be 'Colt Technology Services' i.e. the company who google confirmed was linked to the number he provided me with.
