This is definitely a scam. I checked with Santander - they do not recognise the number and advised me to call their security team on 0800 151 3151
Allegedly from Santander. "Please press 1, if the year of your birth was 2040", followed by three other choices from the 2040s. OK, let's go along with this: I'll press key 1. Followed by two attempts to ask for day and month: my nonsense entries triggered a request to hold the line so that a customer advisor can speak to me. This is fun - stupid fun perhaps but we'll give you a bit more time. But evidently they didn't have any customer advisors available so I eventually hung up after a few minutes. What a strange call but not overtly spam - this is the second time they have 'phoned me. Whoever these people are they are not very bright.
Whoever these people are, they are calling my elderly parents who are 86 and 91 yrs of age. They are claiming to be Santander but looking for their grandson who once lived with them. He moved out about 15 yrs ago and have been told that. They are calling 4 times each day and all the phone calls are stressing them out. This is all day wrong and it is affecting their health.
I just left this comment. I know that the person they wanted had my telephone number before but I am still suspicious if it is a SCAM nevertheless. Please be careful.
from Santander asking for a person who most likely had my telephone nr before as since I got assigned this number, other callers asked for the same people. One time it was a GP surgery. So, I think it could be genuine. However, it is still a robot "speaking" asking to be called back on 0800 0851278.
Recorded message claiming to be Santander. Requested call back.
caller has given identity from santander bank and requested call back.
