WARNING TO CAR SELLERS “John” contacted us after a car advert, believed via Gumtree. Over two days he was extremely friendly and convincing, said the car was perfect for his wife, accepted the full asking price and arranged to collect. Then came a request for a PrimeInspectors vehicle report. PrimeInspectors appears to be a genuine service, but the scam is phishing: you may be sent a bogus link impersonating a genuine vehicle-check site to capture card/bank details. It could use ANY legitimate company’s name. I told him buyers obtain their own reports and I would not follow links. He immediately disappeared and never arrived. BEWARE – never use a buyer-supplied link.
