Just a heads-up: I received a suspicious text message from a mobile number claiming that someone had tried to buy a phone (an Orange Mobile), and that my bank had declined the payment. The message then asked me to reply “YES” or “NO” to confirm the transaction. What made it worrying is that the message included the last four digits of my actual bank card — clearly designed to make it seem legitimate. DO NOT REPLY to messages like this. It’s a form of phishing (called smishing) and replying can confirm your number is active or open the door to more scams. I’ve reported it, contacted my bank, and I’d strongly suggest others do the same if you get anything similar. If you’re worried your personal info might be circulating, consider looking into CIFAS Protective Registration. Stay safe everyone — and please spread the word
When I telephoned Lloyds independantly and eventually got through it was from them to inform me that my debit card was used in an attempted fraud. I had to tell them to leave a message on the LLoyds Bank web site next time so that I can double check. So not impressed with Lloyds either. Anyway a new debit card is on its way to me. I imagine the evil fraudsters were even using Sunday to commit the crime as they know getting through to the Fraud team is not quick as most staff would be away from the office. Incindendtly the Lloyds fraud number is not free to call.
Says by card has been used today and got my tel number and last 4 digits of my debit card correct. Cnas't get through to my bank for at least 30 mins this Sunday. I reckon this is a quite sophisticated scam/ Fraud devils.
Text message claiming to be from Halifax Bank requiring me to answer YES or NO to a blocked transaction. There is just something about the text message that doesn't seem right so I'm treating it as scam.
This number has called multiple times today desperate for me to press and connect with call centre. Stated that transactions had occurred on my bank account. SCAMMER so block number.
