Actual number of First Direct but is a scam claiming to be from the fraud department of First Direct. What was even more worrying is that I hung up and called first direct myself and got through to someone at first direct who said the call was legitimate and nothing to worry about, there were notes from the fraud team call on my account. Anyway, that was also part of the scam as they can keep your line open to them and then it goes to them again when you dial out... Very scary indeed!!
Called this morning by 0345 610 0100. Initially thought it was a spam/hoax call - female with foreign accent probably working from home as I could hear the sound of traffic in the back ground - Philippines). Searched on the www and there are many references on similar websites to this telephone number belonging to First Direct Bank. Established with my bank in the UK the call was genuine. Also found out First Direct is part of HSBC and M&S (Marks & Spencer) Bank are part of the same group. It does pay to do your homework, rather than getting caught out. Hope this helps.
