Asian woman claiming to be from COVID action line, Asking about my Son. When questioned she hung up. Number now blocked.
I put phone down after saying hello-no reply
Foreign woman claimed to be calling from the NHS about Covid vaccines and gave an incorrect email address, then asked for the correct email. Needless to say I told her I didn't believe she was calling from the NHS and hung up. Sounded like she would have kept going if I'd given her half a chance
Call from 01730891753 claiming to be NHS for government checking vaccination status, they asked by my name told me where I lived then gave me an Email address which was nothing like mine, asked for my Email address for their records, I refused, oh but sir I am an official working for the government/NHS doing a survey. To which I replied Yes, I get call claiming to be from Microsoft and they insist they are really from Microsoft.
caller rang asking about my computer said I'd never heard of the company and he rang off clearly a scam
We had a very illuminating chat with the 'Amazon' scammer who called this morning, who surprisingly did not hang up when challenged. He openly acknowledged that it was a scam, but said in his defence that he needed to earn a living and was just 'trying something new'. When we told him about the anxiety and grief caused by Indian call centres like his, who stole money from people in the UK, many of them old and vulnerable, he seemed embarrassed and actually apologised for the distress, but said he'd been told we always got our money back because the banks would reimburse us. He seemed like a decent lad who genuinely believed his actions were 'victimless'. So we'd encourage anyone, who feels able, to keep these guys on the line and have a chat, and ask them to think about the harm they're doing.
Lady with thick Asian accent (gave her name as Erica Marshall!) claimed to be from Amazon to warn me that my account had been hacked and a £600 smartphone ordered. Said she was based at 14 Hanover Street, London W1S1YH - not a London postcode. Obviously a scam
hung up when they got my answer machine so obviously didn't want to actually engage with me
Called about a charge to some account. Obviously a scam call. Challenged the caller and they said they had dialled the wrong number.
Thick Asian accent calling for specific person. Call instantly terminated.
