I too was scammed. Both times by Vanessa and I paid £150 on 15/12/21 and a further £299 on 31/3/22. The original advert was on facebook to which I responded. They strung me along talking about a refund of £9500 and how their team of solicitors were hard at work processing my claim. I put a warning on facebook to alert other would be victims following which I received a threatening phone call from a male person telling me to take the comment down or he would sue me for libel/slander. I have written off the money especially as it was so long ago but if it helps I will report it.

My partner who used to work for Callum Laithwaite (and never got paid), saw him in York a few days ago. He looked awful – dirty, scruffy and carrying a lot of extra weight. He appeared to be drunk or high on drugs. There might be some justice in the world ...the thought of him still living the highlife and scamming others was too much to bear. I went through ACAS and got a higher court writ to claim back unpaid wages. Unfortunately, because they keep moving and changing company names, the high court writ becomes invalid. Bit of a pointless process if you ask me.

I hope these bastards get caught! It’s funny as pay was ALWAYS late. They expected the world from staff and worked us in to the ground! I used to work for this poisoned dwarf and her ugly son. They used to come in to the bar and thought they owned the town. They used to own Bar 46 in the market place, Malton, North Yorkshire. They actually scammed us all out of our tips and closed down to “refurb” using our tips which we earnt putting in the graft! They couldn’t run a bath never mind a bar/restaurant as they used to eat and drink their profits away. I swear Callum had a steak every shift I worked. Hope they get locked up. Absolute con artists driving around in lavish cars and living off the backs of others. Hope they get caught. I heard Callum now works at the Stone Trough Pub off the A64 near abbey.

She has her date of birth listed as 1972. The woman is in her 60s.

They are trading as BDP BDPGROUPUK LTD - Company number 14881849. Vanessa Smith is on companies house as the director. I have also just submitted a case to action fraud. Hopefully, by now they have a fair bit of evidence. But if anyone else has been scammed I also recommend reporting it.

Do you have details of his property investment fraud? I believe he is deliberately taking peoples money under false pretences and using it for personal gain and lieing about it.

I got a call from Vanessa Laithwait again today. Saying my mortgage claim was going through but they had paperwork back from my mortgage provider saying I have now an undisclosed commision claim. Now asking for £299.00 who would believe that they try again to swindle you. Unbelievable these people need to be hung. I used to work for these obnoxious clowns in the highly toxic environment of their bar, No.46 in Malton. The person called 'Callum Smith' was in fact 'Callum Laithwaite', son of 'Vanessa Laithwaite'. I can only imagine he changed his name when he and his mum ran away from all the debts they amassed. They were also involved in drug dealing at the bar so that might also have something to do with their sudden disappearing act. The pair really thought they were so smart and superior, but everyone I know who had the misfortune to work for them or had dealings with them, ended up losing money.

I too have fallen victim to what I now know to be a fraudulent scam, orchestrated on this occasion by some called Callum Smith I have also had phone conversations with a woman called Natalie Bennet although who know if these are real names. I paid using a credit card who are refunding me and givem me a temporary crime number. They the nask you to report the matter to Action Fraud UK. Don't bother ringing the numbers advertised as they just go through to an answer phone. The police fraud dept I am assured are on this one.

I lost money to this crook. After some research on LinkedIn and Companies House I discovered her full name is Vanessa Laithwaite. I also asked a relative of mine in the North of England to visit the business address on their website. He told me that the premises in Malton, Yorkshire had eviction notices taped to the door. He spoke to a local shop keeper who remembers this Vanessa when she ran a wine bar at the same address. She described her as a short, overweight nasty old woman. She might still live in the local area so I will continue my search.

Any updates on this? It does seem that there may be some mileage in these potential claims but I'm as cynical and suspcicious as the next guy.... so I'm keen to find out a bit more.

Most definitely a scam. Searched them online and found the number linked to 'Night Owl Capital' & 'Night Owl Mortgage Refunds'. Tracking the Company Reg No. on their website with Companies House, shows a dormant company with no trading history. My lawyer brother says they look very suspicious and the claims on their website wholly inaccurate and misleading.

Refund on Mortgages sounds far to good to be true all mortgage payments are refunded wants 150 pound per mortgage up front with no details as to contracts etc.
