Caller claimed to be from our Scottish Power, speaking from an Indian call centre stating that he needed to confirm what our meter reading and post code are as apparently there is a typo on their end and demanded I get a bill to cross check details. I said I couldn't do that right now and that if there were any issues the person who normally deals with the bills will call them back if necessary. He states *insert company directors name* will be very mad with me if i don't resolve this now! Very insistent and almost aggressive, won't accept no for an answer. I repeatedly tell him I don't deal with bills directly and can't go searching for bill and the person who does is unavailable, won't take no so had to hang up in the end.
Claiming to be from British Gas, trying to get our British Gas password to enter the account. Total scam
Caller claimed to be from our energy provider EDF Energy UK, speaking from an Indian call centre stating that he needed to confirm what our meter point number was so that they could send out correct invoices as it appears we were being overcharged. Then asks for owner of account and account number (which I will not give out) he then turns aggressive demanding info.
Caller claimed to be from our energy provider Octopus, spoke in very broken English stating that he needed to confirm what our meter point number was so that they could send out correct invoices as it appears we were being overcharged. I asked for him to email me his request but he said that this was not possible and the information needed to be given over the phone. Told him that was not happening and put the phone down.
This engagement bore all the hallmarks of a coordinated phishing exploit. A barely articulate operator, speaking over distinct call-centre interference, attempted to extract our personal credentials under the pretext of an official Scottish Power inquiry. To ascertain authenticity, I requested formal documentation via email or a secure transmission through our verified customer account portal. The operative's absolute refusal to utilize these standard verification channels conclusively demonstrated their fraudulent intent.
couldn't even understand something about litigation department and electricity bills which we don't really have. Scammers I guess.
Pretend to be from our energy provider, and state that their is a mix up. It is just for them to get hold of you meter number and with that they have all the relevant info to your gas/elect bills. Once they have got that, then they will spam you! do not provide any info
The person claimed to be from EDF Energy asked us to confirm the address
Two calls today 25/06/26. Claimed to be from BG, (kind of or at first) we do not use BG, I asked him do you who we use? I said I cannot recall. They said we got a bill from our provider in June and what is the latest meter read on the bill. I was not planning to tell him anything else besides that, (I don't even know if the meter read is on our bills though), like who we use and our account number as they should already know this. The caller said our postcode was mixed up with someone else. It does seem weird, maybe this is a scam but to what end?
Claiming to be from my electric supplier and saying that my meter reading is getting mixed up with another business. So I rang my supplier, they confirmed that there was no issue whatsover with my meter or readings. This is a scam.
Claiming to be from British Gas firstly stating that our post code was wrong on their records and then asking for our British Gas account number.
Scottish power fraud and eon gas. They know details on your invoice but claim it's an issue on their end.
Pretending to be from our energy supplier saying that they needed more information for our next bill, very insistent and pushy obvious fraud
