Call claiming to be from Three Mobile about a merger with Vodafone and how they need to change the SIM card in the phones. Even mentioned a large discount offer on my payment plan… then sent me a verification code to the genuine From Three text thread on my phone. She was asking me for the One Time Passcode. Luckily above was a genuine message from Three advising Anti fraudster alert for OTP, which said three would never call me and ask for my OTP. At that point I ended the call. I have to say they put a lot of effort in to making the call sound genuine, it sounded like she was in a contact centre with lots of conversations going on in the background, plus that weird infiltrating my genuine three text thread. I called Three and they confirmed that it wasn’t them and there is no large discount on the payment plan (tbh she gave herself away at that point!) and no merger. I asked three to investigate the text thread issue.
