Woman with an Indian accent called, speaking very slowly. Claimed to be from BT Openreach about our broadband problems. I said "that's odd - we're not with BT". She started to explain that BT Openreach was a major broadband supplier(!). I asked how much money she was trying to scam from me, and she hung up.
Chap called - apparently from BT - saying my internet connection had been changed from private to public. He started with a UK accent (he's called Alan) and it travelled gradually toward Eastern Europe as the conversation progressed. I asked him to write via email seeing he'd have it on his BT files. It was an interesting conversation, especiallyh as I'm not with BT
Said they had taken £1000 from my account for home appliance warrantee and said they would pay it back. I said that's great and asked for a cheque instead of giving my account details as requested! A long pause then told that cheques were not available at this time.
Call from Asian lady with my home details offering me £120 refund on washing machine . Asked them for cheque or write to me but they wanted by bank details -sort code/acc number . now blocked
Told me I was due a refund for home care payment- obviously wanting my Bank details. I mentioned that I thought his call was a scam and he put his phone down.
Had a call from a rather rude and abrupt Max William telling me he was from Virgin Media so I stopped him as I've had scam calls before. He was suspiciously hesitant when I told him I would call Virgin Media and eventually came up with a phone number which is Virgin Media's customer service number. I think he was looking it up, as I've just done. When I called Virgin Media on 150 they confirmed it was a scam call.
Yesterday a Philippino sounding lady calling herself 'Jenny' rang from Virgin Media about bad internet connection. Today I received a missed call from the same number.
Called claiming to be from BT. Said unauthorised people were using the broadband account. Wanted me to do some stuff online to check the line or the account was being suspended. (Alarm bells already ringing loudly) Pointed out my mother had just died and I am trying to deal with numerous different financial accounts to sort her affairs and I would not be happy if the account was suspended. He responded that my happiness was not his concern. Asked for his details so I could complain to his manager about his insensitivity. He responded that it was outrageous I should ask for his details, became aggressive. I put the phone down on him.
As soon as the caller said he was calling about my B T, I knew it was another scam call. I ave nothing to do with B T.
Called offering refund of £190 on my homecare warranty. Said I had overpaid. Wanted bank details and I refused, I requested a cheque and the Indian guy called Thomas asked me to hold for his senior supervisor. On he comes and said he would send a cheque if I gave my reference number from my bank statement. I played them along for 10mins. Now blocked that number along with many others, sick of these calls.
caller with an Indian or far eastern accents who claim to be working for or on behalf of BT about problems with your broadband. when they are really phishing for your personal information. please ignore or report the callers and block the number as they are persistent and will call back or try again sometimes two three calls a week a real nuisance
said she was calling from BT in London about my internet connection and security alerts
Indian lady rang, new my name and address. Wanted to refund me £119 for appliance cover I was overcharged for. I asked if they could send a cheque so I was put through to a supervisor (Indian Stephen) I said a cheque would be fine. But he insisted he required some bank details. I asked for the company name, address and email which he wasn't allowed to disclose. I'll see if the cheque arrives he may be a friend of Dishy Rishi trying to scam the working class while he lives in millionaire utopia with his non dom wife.
Suggested they were with BT, I'm not, they then said they represent everyone. They got my name back to front, a 15yr old address and then when i pressed them they said they were recording the call as proof that they'd given me advice and i was ignoring. Scamtastic
Accented lady purporting to be from BT with concern about access to my broadband. I hung up on her. It's a scam!
Indian guy, new my name and address, said he was calling to refund me £190 on my washing machine. Wanted my bank details. I told him to send me a cheque and told him he was a SCAMMER at which point he got abusive. Added to my BLOCKED list. Sooner OFCOM sort this out, the better it will be for UK residents who are being plagued by unwanted calls, scammers, con artists and the like.
Rang this morning. Nothing said so I hung up. Probable scam.
Called at 15.00 today. I always screen calls if it is a number i don't recognise. It went to answerphone, they hung up and didn't leave a message.
Phone rang, no-one on the other end when answered. This suggests an auto-dialler and therefore likely a scam.
Called me at 7.15am , line went dead when I answered it.
Called before 8am on a Saturday so rather uncivilised. Female with strong accent, probably Indian sub continent.
When I returned home yesterday, a message had been left on my phone to say that this number had tried to make contact. When I called back, a person with a very poor command of English appeared to be telling me that I need to press various buttons for further information. As this was an obvious scam, terminated the call immediately.
Claimed to be from VirginMedia blocked immediately.
Said they were from Openreach and that my broadband was slow. It's not, I know, I'm a computer whizz!
Purported to be Virgin Media, wanted to assist in speeding my slow internet service, she was advised that an engineer was at their box on the opposite of the road, and I told her it would be handy for her to speak with him instead of me. She said she would be pleased to do so, but then the line went click.
Caller said that he was from Virgin and went into a long explanation to tell me that my internet connection had been compromised.
Said they were from virgin media and wanted my account information
Called at 9:30 on 26/2/2022. When I answered they just said "hello" then silence then they hung up. Useless time wasters!
Accented lady by the name of Jane (doubt real name), claimed to be from BT Open Reach, calling about our broadband. Immediately hung up as potential scam.
I suggested it was a spam call and they hung up immediately. She had said she was from Virgin Media.
Claimed from Openreach, who supply all the UK. No they don't. I believe she said "get lost" but such a heavy India type accent it was difficult to say for certain.
Male caller with an Indian accent claiming to be from Virgin Media, I hung up call and blocked number.

Just received a call from this number. Caller claimed to be from BT Openreach to tell me that my Internet connection was getting slower on a daily basis and wanted t go through some steps to improve it. When I told her that the my speed had been tested and was OK she hung up!
A female with an Indian accent who said she was calling from BT. She had my name and address. Was scamming me to obtain personal details by telling me that my BT calls to landline and mobiles would be free if I was 40,50,60 or over 70. She ignored me throughout her ramble and eventually told me that I would get a 45% discount and started to ask personal details such as dob. When I refused she asked why so I told her that I did not believe her and that she was working in an Indian call centre scamming people - at this point she hung up on me.
