Claimed to be from British Gas - I have my boiler insurer with British Gas. The accent of the caller made me very suspicious. I asked the caller why she was telling me things I already knew. She then hung-up.
Said his name was Philip and is call from British Gas offering me free service on my gas boiler. He wanted the sort code for my bank, when I refused to give him this he call me a f****** idiot and hung up… I hope he gets the fleas of a thousand camels.
Rang at 8:30am, no person spoke, suspected scam auto dial.
I had exactly the same experience. Seems very dodgy.
Didn't answer as was sure it was a scam. No message left. No doubt they'll try again.
The person speaking had a strong Indian accent. Went through a whole rigmarole about my boiler, then started asking for bank details. That confirmed it was a scam. Hung up the phone. 30 seconds later she rang back asking for bank details again. Told her not to call back and hung up a second time.
Indian sounding male asked if I was the lady of the house. He claimed to be from British Gas. He asked if my boiler was working. I said yes, thank you very much and hung up.
An Indian sounding voice range my elderly dad twice even though he is x directory. Said that he needed to arrange a service for the gas boiler.
Indian accent claimed to be calling from British Gas, regarding boiler cover, calling from “Dorset in Poole”. Claimed that he had my bank details but needed us to confirm them with him. That’ll be a hard no…
Indian accent. Asked for Lady of the House. Called 2 days ago claiming to be from British Gas. Very persistent. Advice, cut call immediately.
Claimed to be from British Gas, 'Indian' voice. We had our boiler serviced yesterday so thought it might be legit but when he said he needed to send me something in the post and wanted my address alarm bells rang. British Gas never send anything by post. Cut him off mid sentence.
Indian voice asked if I was the "man of the house"? (Alarm bells!) Then went straight into a list about my 'boiler cover'. I asked where she was from, and she said "Gas". (Honestly, some of these "scams" beggar belief!) The immediately after fnishing the list, she said, "I just need sort code...... Vat is sort code?" I'll not write what I responded with, and she hung up.
Pretended to be the insurance provider for my cooker He was very insistent that I gave him details of my card . I refused an hung up. Sounded foreign
Claimed to be from British Gas asking if I had a problem with my boiler, but I’m not connected to gas!
