Knew my name and address said they were following up on a letter - havent received one. Said that they were coming to check heat loss from the property. Said I did not want one. The term legislation was used in the conversation. It just sounded like a con to me.
I have just received my second phone call from this company in a year. The 1st was about10 months ago when I was offered a free damp/ moisture test, they also advised me that they had noticed a power drop on my Solar Panels. I agreed to a visit from them, thinking that this was the firm that had installed my new solar inverter 2 years ago. After some deliberation iI decided to phone my installer, and was I glad that I did. They informed me that this was a scam and assured me that my solar panels were working fine and advised me that my 10 year warranty/ service plan with them, would be compromised if another company was involved. I quickly got in touch with Universal, and cancelled my appointment. My system was last serviced in Nov 23 and was given clean bill of health.
John from Universal Home Energy rang offering me a free home energy check using thermal cameras etc. Said company are in my area tomorrow for a survey if convenient. It wasn't actually but said I wasn't interested anyway so he put the phone down. Probably genuine but you never know.
Put the phone down as soon as I answered without saying anything.
Just been called by a company called universal. Said they had called yesterday but we didn’t pick up. They had sent a letter in October to set up an appointment for Monday to do a heat loss check, when I said my husband is I’ll and we had hospital appointments on Monday and we hadn’t booked an appointment with them he slammed the phone down.
I answered the phone for my elderly mother who gets a lot of scam calls. The man asked if I was Mrs ..... (mothers name) when I answered "yes" he hung up.
Do not answer unrecognised telephone numbers. Don't know, likely scammers?
They rang said it was, a free services, paid for by the energy saving Trust agreed to a visit by the technical expert then reached on line and tryed ringing the energy saving Trust but their phone number diverted to another company who said they had lots of phone calls like mine. But they had nothing to do with the energy Trust. Next day the supposed technical expert turned ckean suit and breife case ready to try and sell me done thing no damp test meter no thermal camera. Just a lot of I formation on their products I suggested they where, a scam company he said they had been in business fir years told him I had checked their creditiaks on the Internet. He asked what I wanted him to do I suggested he should d leave he did. I was not about yo polite about the situation.
Competent scammer offering damp checks, paid for by the government, everyone is getting it. Very good a feigning disbelief when I didn't want his services. I cross questioned him on the advantages of his service. He lost patience that I was not accepting this free offer that "everyone" is getting. Seemed astounded I didn't want this free offer - what had I got to lose. I pointed out that if I gave access to scammers like him he would access to my home, and his explanations didn't fool me at all - he said that I was wasting his time and hung up.
Similar to previous responders, they called about doing a moisture test. When I said I wasn't having one done they insisted it would be obligatory. I contested this assertion and they rang off.
I just had exactly the same contact today. I said he should write to me rather than make an appointment. I await the post!
I had a call from this number today. A female said 'it's Jane', l said 'hallo' and the phone was put down. I assumed it was a wrong number but thought I'd check it just in case. It might be connected with a call l had a couple of weeks ago offering a free energy check which l accepted but they didn't turn up for the appointment.
Same claim of coming to measure my 'damp' I asked him if he knew about soil conditions in my street, then noise levels and decibels, he then went onto thermal camera - at which point he gave up twice in one day.. they got my number off the Solar Panels we had installed 10 plus years ago.. If they phone again - I'll wind them up again if I'm bored! they are harmless idiots. succured into their job of making these calls.
I received an unsolicited call from this company and the speaker said he was following up on a call I had had the previous week from one of his colleagues. I said that was odd because I had been out of the country the previous week. He soon rang off. Very suspicious.
The name of the caller was given as Sean Barry who was with a company called Universal Homes. He wanted to arrange a date and time for a 'damp and moisture check' on my property. The check would take approximately 25 minutes and as it was a Government initiative, would be free of charge. I had not requested a damp and moisture check but the caller was insistent that I should have one. He had details of the property and residents and stated that this Government initiative stemmed from the increasing costs of electricity and gas. I finished the call saying that I would consider his offer.
From a company called Universal - said they wanted to arrange a “damp and moisture check” on my property. When I said I didn’t want one they said “ haven’t you heard, it’s a government initiative and all homes are having a check free of charge due to the rising energy prices” He went on to ask if 11:00 the next day would be ok to come. I started to say that it wasn’t convenient and if I wanted a check I would organise it myself, however before I could finish, he put the phone down!

Constant calling, especially early evening. I have ignored the calls and started declining them, but they still call...
This call was from scammers claiming to be from EE saying I may qualify for a 30% discount off my bill for the next...
Got a text- it's from Scrumbles cat food. Link leads to their website. All good.
Indian guy with thick accent pretending to be from o2 and virgin media. Hung up abruptly when questioned.
