I’m writing to raise awareness and help prevent others from falling victim to a rental scam involving an individual named Syed Arif Ahmed. This person has been posing as a legitimate property agent or landlord. He shows properties, collects security deposits and one month’s rent in advance, and once the payment is made, he blocks all communication and disappears. Several victims, including myself, have fallen for this scam, and it appears to be a repeated pattern. We are compiling evidence and encouraging anyone else affected to come forward.
