He got me. A nasty person do not trust him at all. Only one thing he wants is the money. Ring the Police.
I think the Police will only be interested when he crosses the line, however this type of person is extremely careful not to cross this line. They obviously know who he is and where he is.
I contacted Staffordshire Police about this. I was told that the police cant do anything about it because it is classified as a 'civil agreement'. Basically the staff member of Staffordshire Police was implying that this fraudster was not engaging in criminal activity simply because I agreed to give the money. So this also means that the fraud will continue to prey on the kindness and altruistic intentions and get away with it, unopposed by law enforcement.
I got scammed like the last two posters on Saturday 26th June, but at Frankley on the M5 at around 11.30am. I reported it to West Midlands Police and to Action Fraud but have not had a follow up from either yet. Silver Vauxhall VIG2342, very convincing and grateful manner, same story about returning from Belgium and needing money to get back to Ireland and feed his children, same mobile number (07721 950844) - also introduced me to his children and happy to show me his ID. I haven't even bothered contacting the number as about two minutes after I left him I thought to Google his numberplate and saw this page. In the back of my mind I had a nagging doubt it was all a con throughout but I just kept thinking what if it was me with my kids in that situation. I am not really bothered about the £100 I lost, I am more concerned about the fact it will happen to others who can't afford it, it will deter victims and people who read this from helping genuinely good people in need and what a life for his children to be used as part of the act. I hope this catches up with him soon and he gets what he deserves.
Could you be able to send me this photo? Because I got tricked last Saturday and lost £300. I wrote an email to the Keele Services and the nearby police. I also sent a report to Action Fraud.
On Saturday 26th of June he approached me before I was about to leave. Asked me for £300 saying that he wanted to take the ferry to Ireland. He said that he believes in Christ and that he is a religious Christian and kept saying God bless you. He wrote me his details John Donagh Phone number - 07393166868 Car - Silver Vauxhall, Number plate - VIG2342 I tried to call that number which he gave and there was no answer despite rings going on. Then out of curiosity I type in the car registration number and that is how I find this link. I am not interested in getting the money back. I am more interested in making others aware so that they want fall victims for this fraudulent behaviour where people's kindness and altruistic intentions get exploited in one of the worst possible ways. Therefore I sent a message about the fraud to the Service centre as well as the police nearest to this service centre (PCSO Colin Hodgkinson). I am a Buddhist monastic and arrived with another Buddhist monk and both of us appeared very different from the others, so perhaps if the CCTV recorded a man talking to us, it would be easy for whoever who looks at the recording to narrow down the suspect. Because now the most important thing is to get facial recognition from the CCTV. So if the staff of service stations are alerted about this fraud in advance then whoever comes across the suspect and alert the police nearby.
Same happened to me as to others - at Hilton Park services M6 northbound on 22 May 2021. Licence plate was VIG2342 (silver Vauxhall). I was gobsmacked when I googled his phone number and discovered he'd been using it for three months. I asked him for a photo and he agreed - but the police say it's not much use as his face was partially covered by a mask. I'd encourage the poster from 28/04/21 to submit his photo to the police if he hasn't already - they told me they'd tie together all incidents involving this particular phone number. Unfortunately they said they didn't have enough information to try to get him - a shame, as if his phone number were tracked to a mast covering one service station, which seems quite likely when he's operating, I think there would be a good chance of catching him. Assuming he is one individual.
Could everyone please file a police report to Action Fraud, if they haven't already, as the more information the better. The police need some encouragement to stop him, otherwise he will just continue to scam kind, honest people. Action Fraud: 0300 123 2040 www.actionfraud. police.uk
