Genuine First Direct number
This is a number First Direct use when they call customers. Scammers can also make it come up on caller display. I received a call today from a polite lady who had my name and claimed to be calling from First Direct. She advised that payment details for a relevant direct debit needed updating. The whole conversation including some of the security question asked (but not answered) didn’t seem quite right. I called First Direct on the Bank Card contact number. They confirmed that they hadn't called and that there isn’t a problem with the payment. I called the company the direct debit was set up for, and they confirmed there isn't a problem. THE CALL I HAD WAS 100% A SCAM CALL -. BE VERY CAUTIOUS. If in any doubt hang up, make sure the caller is not still on the line and you have a dialling tone, phone first direct using the contact number on the bank card and check directly with them.
This is one of First Direct's numbers
It was First Direct. Checking on some weird transactions I made in the small hours! Haha. I was suspicious but as they asked no leading questions but just wanted to check on information only they could possibly know I was content. I did call back to check and they are legit. He even signed off by warning me to beware of phone scams...just like a good scammer would! The heavy accent didn't help his ability to convince. Racial profiling is real.
It seems that when we got a call having thought it a hoax, it was in fact first direct.
This is First Direct Ceustomer Care a team and, for me, was perfectly genuine and was wanted. Definitely not scam.
Got a call from this number, thought it was a hoax so was a bit rude to the poor lady on the phone. I phoned first direct and they confirmed it was them that had called.
I got called saying they were from HSBC and asking to confirm security details - I challenged them and they said if I don't believe them call HSBC and there will be a message waiting - I didn't believe it but - it was true - so there you go
I think this is mortgage stuff. I missed a call from the number and then got an email from First Direct saying they tried to contact me.
Did not answer, no msg left, only rang maximum 7 rings. On checking number it reports that BT block the number- they have obviously stopped doing so!
Sounded like a robo caller, said hello twice before hanging up
