Bought a tumble dryer yesterday from Curry’s and he knew about my previous purchases and was very convincing. I answered basic questions like address etc but didn’t give bank details. Thinking about it now he knew my name straight away when I called back on a missed call he answered hello ….. my name
Knew about a recent Currys order and wanted to take to me. Call then dropped out.
Ordered a new fridge from Curry’s yesterday and had a call from this number just now.
Given that I rarely answer unknown number calls, I cannot factually verify that I experienced a scam/spam call however I’m leaving a comment since I, too, made a purchase via currys mere hours before receiving the unexpected call. Data breach?
Exactly the same 4/09/23, two calls after ordering washing machine online yesterday. I didn't answer
Strangely I received a call the day after ordering something from Curry's for delivery next week. The fella had my mother's name who it was ordered for, and he asked if he could speak to her and I said no, but that I was her son who placed the order, and he hung up.
Me too ordered washing machine from currys 6 hrs later phone call started now on black list
I also have been called twice by this number. Didn't answer as I don't answer unknown numbers. Looking at the comments I can see it is linked with purchases from Currys. I also made a purchase from Currys yesterday. DO NOT ANSWER THIS NUMBER!
I received a call from this number today but as it was shown as a number and not a contact I didn't answer. After searching the number on good old Google which led me here, I find it's a Curry's scam ...... yes, I also bought a printer online from them yesterday.
I have just received a call from this number after buying something online from Currys yesterday. The call was breaking up and I couldn't hear him properly but I heard him say my name. I told him to phone back, which he hasn't done, and then checked and I see that it probably is a scam. If he does phone back I will not answer.
Received my order from Curry’s today. I have had two calls from this number today, I did not answer. Thankfully, I searched the number first .
Ordered a laptop from currys yesterday received a call from this number but didnt answer
Claimed to be from Currys. Knew my name. Said calls were recorded. Asked when my delivery was due (ie anytime during the day or morning or afternoon etc). I said you should have that, he said didn.t have access to that. He then suggested it was a security question!!!! I said we would be in to accept delivery for when it was booked and you have our number and email. And that I don't give out information to some random number calling me and asking for that sort of information. TBH Currys ought to warn people about these calls, whether legit or not. After all, they could be trying to suss when the house might be empty!!!!
They just called me wanting to authorize monthly payment plan
I did not answer the call because the number was not known to me but just like all the other comments about this number, I have just purchased items from Currys three days ago. Is this a breach of data protection?
Missed call. Sent me a 4 minute voicemail of what sounded like hold music and that is it? Other people are saying they are getting scam calls from people pretending to be workers from currys? I purchased something off of the currys website yesterday? Possible data breach?
I ordered from Currys a few days earlier and I read what's on here. there's obviously a data leak and they have got some of my details like names and phone number. After what has been posted here, will the relevant authority do anything?
I ordered something from curry’s a couple of days ago and I’ve had 4 calls from this number. I never answer 020 calls but very glad I didn’t this time as apparently they were quite convincing scammers.
I received a call from this number today, after I purchased an item from Curry's yesterday. Have seen that this may be due to data breaches from Curry's in the comment thread and thought I'd post here to help also.
I too received a call from this number after purchasing from Curry's yesterday. I have blocked the number after reading these comments.
Have you complained? What was their response?
Ordered a laptop from Curry's, I got a phone call from this number 2 days after. I didn't answer, and now reading all the comments here I'm getting worried. Has anyone contacted Curry's for this?! It's not ok.
I didn’t answer this number but it’s rang me twice today and so I googled it obviously! After reading these comments I am shocked as I too have ordered from Currys yesterday! So shocked probably won’t order from them again complete data breach!
I ordered a laptop from Currys on Thursday 06/01/2022, successfully delivered on Saturday 08/01/2022, and ever since I placed the order, I kept receiving calls from them, never picked up since I didn’t know the number and they never left a message, but picked up today just to see and since I was also wondering if it could be from a job I applied to recently on indeed lol, I didn’t speak until a woman said she was from Currys and is just calling to check if I successfully received my delivery and knew my name and I very stupidly and hesitantly answered yes and she said great, that’s good and that she was just calling to follow up about it! And now seeing that it could possibly be a scam somehow and then some people saying it’s a actually what Currys does for online delivery orders, I’m quite shocked and creeped out now! Don’t know if it’s legit or not?!
I did not answer the call because the number was not known to me but just like all the other comments about this number, I have just purchased items from Currys yesterday 17/12/21.
Purchased a washing machine from curry's yesterday and got a call about 1310 today 3/11/21. Fortunately my phone will indicate if call is from a scam number so was not answered. After so many calls made from this number and others similar to it, you would think that ofcom or curry's would do something about it, like have the number removed and callers prosecuted and imprisoned. Not a dangerous number in my mind, just pathetic little individuals trying to con others. Why do people fall for these scams?
I didn't answer but I did order from Currys yesterday, if it's not Curry's then I am entitled to compensation for breaching my data. Think Curry's need to confirm they own this number or not.
I bought a laptop from Curry's online yesterday. Received call from this number this afternoon - coincidence much? Especially having read others' experiences. This is one of the few times I am grateful that my reception is rubbish at home. I give my ex directory landline number to those I want to call and tell others they can only message my mobile number. I very rarely pick up calls on my mobile unless I recognise the number or the caller is in my contact list.
I received a call from this number today, after I purchased an item from Currys yesterday. It was odd because he did have lots of information about everything I've bought from Currys in the past and my address, but wanted my bank details, which I didn't give him. I see now that other people have gone through the same issue. It is rather worrying.
They called me pretending to be Currys PC World and were getting information from me. Sounded very convincing and I will be contacting Currys PC World about it
Likely scam call following data breaches - report to Ofcom and Information Commissioners Office.
I bought a printer from Currys and a few minutes before it was going to arrive I get a phone call from this number. A young english guy who knew my name, he asked me to go over some of my details and started by asking me what my full name was. I asked him why and hung up on him then googled the number and realised it's a scam. I didn't give out any of my details but they knew my name.
Curryspcworld scam. I have recently purchased a printer online. I received a call from a very convincing man offering me a warranty. Curry’s received a £500,000 fine last year for data breaches. Be aware it is happening again. I tried to contact Curry’s but their contact number led me round in circles. Last time I ever buy from them.
