asked to speak to one of the owners by first name. Got out of him that he was Ben from Carters? refused to tell me why he was calling even though I told him I was one of the owners. Ben was a smart alec numerous times on the call before he hung up, so its definitely not a genuine sales call.
asked for director by name but refused to say company they were calling from just kept saying 'its Jay'
Received a call from 'Claudia' who refused to give her reason for a calling after I asked at least 3 times, before she hung up.
Pretending to be from somewhere called Carters
Caller identified as BCO. Phishing for details about phone useage.
Some kind of scam. Said it was Georgia calling from 'Better' and asked to speak to a (non-working) director, so knew immediately there was something fishy. She said the local telephone exchange had been 'upgraded', which meant we could have new telephones without a capital cost. Yeah, right.
Called and claimed to be from the BCO (broadband community organisation). No thanks, and I hung up. Called me back immediately phished for phone info, said I am obligated to provide the info now or subsequently. I googled whilst on line, no info, i declined to speak further and just as I was hanging up he had a go at me for wasting his time!
An AI bot calling sounds realistic but is definitely phishing.
