This number rang twice yesterday afternoon. Just ignored and blocked it. Should just leave people alone.
An Indian guy. Said it was O2 with new offers, I said I wasn’t interested and he hangout.
Lady with Indian accent. Oncebi saw the number I assumed it was a scam. Didn't really understand what she said so I asked her which was the scam of the day. She hung up
Claimed to be O2 and offering 30% discount on phone contract. Put the phone down on him. Already this year also had same call from: Abingdon, Chorley, Rochdale and Andover!
If you have given these people any details at all please call 0344 809 0202 (standard UK rates apply). Monday-Friday 8am-9pm, Saturday 8am-8pm, Sunday 8am-6pm. Additionally, report it to action fraud using this link: https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/a-z-of-fraud/identity-fraud-and-identity-theft They are claiming to be from O2 and telling me they can reduce my bill down 30% due to the cost of living etc... Big corporations giving you money for no reason when they have a contract is a big red flag 🚩 I know full well they can reduce my O2 contract bill by 30% because 30% of nothing is still nothing. I don't use O2 but I use their network, I am on Giffgaff so that's why they think I'm on an O2 contract, another big red flag 🚩. Anyway, I talk to them for a little while and they tell me to give them 2 x One Touch Passwords from O2. These OTPs are then used to take over your account so that they can intercept communications from your bank for instance (they will know who you bank with etc. And ask for new cards etc.) But they will also order upgrades, accessories or replacement sims, and apply for additional connections, all of which cost you. Once they have this, they also are capable of using this as proof of address in your name so that they can begin identity theft.
Scam
Called claiming to be from O2 but unable to verify. Grossly likely to be scam.
