Caller (cultured Indian accent) said I qualify for a personal alarm due to health conditions meaning I'm vulnerable. Name of company, "medical" something. I was suspicious but the conversation we had confirmed it must be a scam. He said he needed to check I was over 65 as only people over 65 qualify for this and could I give him my date of birth. [So why did he say at the beginning that I do qualify if he doesn't know my age?] I said he should have my personal details already (he didn't even know my name)and asked how much it cost. He said the alarm was free but there was a monthly rate of £29 something for its operation. I said I would contact my GP about it, and hung up. Conclusion: It was either illegal cold calling (I'm TPS registered) or a scam.
