They called twice. I had a legitimate alert from my phone provider that someone was trying to change over the sim. With in a few minutes of receiving this alert this number called I answered the second time. They said they were from my phone provider and wanted to know if it was me but to verify I was the account holder they would send me a message with a code to give back to them while I was on the phone. I received what looked like a legitimate text with a code, so thinking I was talking to my phone provider I read it back to them to confirm I was the genuine account holder. It wasn’t for a couple of hours that I realised I had no service they had taken control of my phone accessing everything. They wiped out my bank account opened a credit card with Aqua and hacked into my Pay Pal account and blocked access to my email account. Dealing with PP and Microsoft has been a frustrating nightmare. Lesson learnt even if you think you are talking to someone legitimately call them back using a verified call centre.
