called twice a day al this week
Once upon a time there was a room full of imbeciles making calls to sell rubbish and scam people. The wicked witch running the scam operation paid them less than the dole would pay...but the thick sods working there could not fill out the forms to get dole money...too stupid. So they work (if you can call it that) on the phones showing the world how thick they are. Sad.
I used to work for Stellar (temporary after redundancy). It was an awful job that paid minimum wage with no bonus. One thing I can say about them is they are genuine partners of BT which you can see at bt.com/partners. The agents that call you have all received training of a higher standard than BT agents as they wish to protect their contracts and we actually did genuinely want our customers to get a better deal. Yes we can check who you are currently with, but it takes time so it's easier just to ask. Sorry to the 500 people a day I used to call - it's soul destroying when 450 of them swear at you, but thanks to the 50 or so that would remember you are a human just trying to put food on the table.
Someone with a Scottish accent called from this number and tried to sell me BT sports. I told him I wasn't interested and hung up. When I came home from work later, he'd left a message telling me 'I wasn't cool enough mate!' and then hung up. Obviously didn't realise his number would come up when you dial 1471!
recieved a call from this number today, i immediately picked up on the guy saying "... calling on behalf of ..." so i asked him what company he was part of, he then hung up without saying a word, i called the number back and was given the automated message with the BT number, so i phoned BT to complain, they logged the complaint and said i should hear in 4 - 5 working days, didn't want to wait that long so i phoned them directly to complain. all because the guy didn't want to answer a simple question.
This number called yesterday, saying he was from BT and trying to get me to sign up to Broadband. He seemed to know a lot about house number and road, and postcode, and sounded very plausible. I told him we have Broadband and it is automatically, updated but no action was necessary until January 2016 at the earliest, unless we decided on a change, did we? He agreed and when I asked ok then, what was the point of the call he simply said thank you and terminated the call.
Caller saying from BT asking who our phone line is currently with!!
Thanks for the telephone numbers, CompleatConsumer. I had a call from this number yesterday afternoon, and another this morning. I telephoned Mr McKee, who promised to delete my number from their contact lists. Now, here's the not so good bit. They phoned me again an hour later (!) to assure me that I wouldn't be called again but, guess what, I had yet another call from them this afternoon. I spoke to Mr McKee again, in a somewhat less friendly fashion than before, to demand that they stop calling me. All he could do was to suggest that I get BT to remove me from the lists that they send to Stellar. Unfortunately, I don't have several hours to spare to plough through BT's labyrinthine call-centre systems, only to speak to someone with English as a third language, who won't or can't fix the problem. Any suggestions gratefully welcomed.
I just received their call at 18:34 hours. Jerks! I'm subscribed to the Telephone Preference Service too. I stupidly answered this call BUT there was apparently nobody there! Must be using some kind of auto-dialler but they don't EVEN know how to use that effectively! They don't even try to train these scammers! It's outrageous! If only we could have ALL these nuisance calls automatically re-routed to 10 Downing Street then perhaps something would actually be done about them!
The company calling you from this number is called Stellar, and they are in partnership with BT. If you call back on 0800 044 5265 you will hear a message inviting you to phone 0800 0282272 "to remove yourself from our calling lists". But my advice is don't call this number - you will very likely be put on hold or get through to a BT call centre in India where they won't understand what you are on about. It's much better to make direct contact with members of Stellar's UK/European Management Team. Here are some contact details: Vanessa O'Brien, Head of UK Sales and Marketing: [email protected] 01294 225336 & 07932 109006; Brian McKee, UK Marketing Manager: [email protected] 01294 225337 & 07957 818678. Just email of call them, tell them that their calls distress you and that if they ever contact you again you will take action against them under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. That always seems to scare off call centres (as long as they are UK-based, which Stallar is). And remember, the law changes today, making it much easier for such telephone pests to be prosecuted and fined. The whole call centre industry is now on the run, so let's run them into the ground:-)
nuisance callers. need to be stopped
Third time this week that this number (0800 044 5265) has called asking for someone who i dont know.
Received missed calls from this number and one recorded message saying a BT Partner was trying to get in touch without success. I phoned the number which turned out to be BT and was advised that they do not know why somebody was calling me! The man I spoke to said that they have been having a lot of customers phone saying that the BT Partner had been ringing.
