Had a text message supposedly from Lloyds Bank saying they were amending my details as requested. I hadn’t contacted bank so assume it is a scam. They were persistent.
This caller purported to be from Lloyds Bank fraud dept, quoting the last 4 digits of my debit card correctly advising that there had been attempted fraudulent activity on my account. Claimed to have carried out Bank Risk assessment that came back RED and therefore claimed it would be necessary to cancel my card and send me out a new one. Advised me that telephone call was being recorded for security and training purposes. Also requested I get to my lap top and have my card reader and debit card to hand to transfer my funds to a safe account. THIS BEING THE SCAMMERS ACCOUNT! Smelt a RAT and requested a return call 1hr later. In mean time contacted Lloyds Bank fraud department proper who advised that there had been no attempted fraudulent activity on my account and that their fraud dept had not made any contact with me. So total attempted scam. I took return call and advised caller I was on to him. His persona instantly changed. Became rude and aggressive and said ' I so nearly got your money'! This caller was so plausible, it is a major worry that the elderly or any trusting individual could so easily be taken in by this performance. That would win an Oscar for any actor who gave such a performance. Take care scammers are out there after your hard earnt cash!!!! I understand that the 0345 number is generated by Vodafone. Question is why do a reputable company like Vodafone allow Scammers to use their facility for this illegal activity?
