This was a legitimate MBNA number.

MBNA texted and called on this number. But first I got a text from usual MBNA text number (that they use to tell me about balances etc) advising I would be contacted by them re recent transactions. I then used this number to contact MBNA fraud dept but had to go through automated process first before being connected to a person.

Genuine from MBNA. Their Fraud Dept - Card misuse. 033304 59717 confirmed via their 0800 587 0997 number. Informed me my card number was used unauthorised to purchase from Amazon today - which it was ! They blocked the transaction and cancelled my card after phoning the 0800 number. Card has never left the house as I haven't used it in 2 years. Ignore posts that state 0333 0459 717 isn't from MBNA, clearly very misleading and Totally incorrect !

Genuine number - had it confirmed by MBNA that this number is one of theirs and originates from their automated fraud service, i.e. you get a text asking if you recognise a recent transaction and if you state "No" then this number calls you and connects you with one of their fraud operations team who talk you through any dodgy transactions as well as validating the ones you recognise.
