Someone called about housing issues — very strong accent, I couldn’t understand much. But it definitely seemed like a scam.

The guy told me he was ringing from the Compliance Department on behalf of all local authorities and housing associations in the UK to check whether I had any problems in my rented property and to make sure that my landlord would get them sorted out as they oversee all rental issues. He didn't like me explaining that different local authorities in the different parts of the UK work differently as does monitoring rental properties, and when I asked him how he knew I was renting and which part of the UK I fall under, he hung up.
