i lost my wife yesterday and wating for a call from co op who are taken care of her i diddent answer cos my phone flaged it as potentual fraud now i dont no what im supposed to do

Very strange call about a funeral, wouldn't speak to me or give any details. Absolutely bizarre, number is now blocked

Caller was an African/Nigerian lady called Penny who had a very strong accent. This immediately made me think it must be a scam call as there are so many links to Africa and in particular Nigeria in terms of scammer call centres, thanks Rav Wilding and Jim Browning for enlightening us and exposing scammers. She said she was from the Co-Op Funeralcare support team. I am handling the arrangements for my brother-in-law so timely to say the least. However, she then asked if it would be a burial or cremation despite this being discussed in my initial call to the company the day before. When I confirmed it would be a cremation, she then wanted to discuss how they could assist with the dispersal of ashes. Again, this was something that had already been discussed on the initial phone call. She then moved on to what I believe was the business part of her call where she asked if the deceased had a will and if I was going to be the beneficiary. I am not the partner of the deceased. I am that person's sister who is handling the affairs on their behalf, but I can only imagine how traumatic it would be to receive this sort of call the day after a loved one has passed. I am concerned that this may be a third party company that co-op funeral care has instructed to act on their behalf and if so I believe it is very ill-judged I for one will be contacting the organisation, who my family have dealt with for more than 40 years, and will be making them aware of how their representative is coming across and the sort of false compassion scripted into the call. The call continued because I allowed it to as I wanted to see where she was going with this, she then asked if the will had been read yet and said that once it had, they would be able to provide probate services to ensure a swift transition of actions and monies. I explained that I was fully aware of the processes as I had done this numerous times for various people and I wouldn't be needing any advice or services from them. I have now made direct contact with the funeral home and I am awaiting a call from a manager to discuss my experiences and get clarity about who this company is and how they represent Co-Op Funeralcare

Robotic "bereavement advice" from Co-op Funeral Care.

Seemed to be legitimately from coop about probate. Not asked for any payment details and gave useful advice.

This is legitimate bereavement and probate guidance from CO-OP funeral care. I contacted the home and confirmed.

Wanted me to pay for bereavement counselling.

Caller alleged they were from CO-OP funeral service. Clever as I have a family death to deal with at the moment
