Thanks I just had the same call see all the other people on here lets me know I am right to hang up
Caller said card had been asked for payments from abroad and Amazon, Indian accented thief do not trust, do not talk to them, infact bar the number till BT give them another.
Phone call today stating my card had been used for unexpected purchases which is completely untrue. A well spoken British accent - she should be ashamed!
Scammer purporting to be my bank security department
Again another phone call to our private number saying we had payments made using a visa card for goods by a third party on one of the popular online ordering websites for several hundred and several thousand pounds relating to a bank transfer. Obviously I thought it was a private number as it appears as such on the phone display however the recorded message is one of those computer generated voices. These messages are enough to frighten vulnerable people! Thank goodness I'm able to filter and sort these things out, the number is now blocked by BT. Keep reporting here so that these scams can be uncovered and dealt with.
As previous comments, the caller said they were from the 'Bank' to say £300 had been paid to Amazon plus over £1000.00 to an international company. Caller told me to press 1 if these transactions were legitimate. As message was left on my answerphone, I couldn't carry out the instruction anyway so was 99% sure it was a scam. I did ring my bank to check that nothing had been taken from my account and confirm it was a scam.
Claims that I have a a few unusual charges to my card - but doesn't say which one nor identify itself... Clearly a scam seeking to grab first your phne line, then personal details and card access info... Ignore it.
As per previous comment the call said that it was the "Bank" calling about possible wrong Amazon payment of £300 and a currency transfer of over £1,000 and they wanted to check I they were correct as I hadn't done similar transactions before. I ended the call.
Caller said that it was "Bank" calling about possible wrong Amazon payment and a currency transfer asking me to continue the call to correct these errors. I assumed that the call was scam and ended the call.
