I have no connection with these people and I believe this is a scam.

This is a genuine number - a firm called Medequip, who operate a 24/7 response centre for elderly/vulnerable people with lifeline equipment installed ( push buttons, pendants, wristbands etc.). If the lifeline equipment is activated, Medequip are alerted and try to speak to the elderly/vulnerable person, to see if they are ok. If they get no response, they have a list of that person’s family/friends/contacts to get in touch with, and will ring these urgently. If they do not get a prompt answer from the first, they move to the next number on the list, try that and so on. Time is of the essence, so they don’t ring endlessly/leave messages etc. If they cannot reach anyone on the list, I would imagine they alert the emergency services.
