07537 453969 Negative Who called me from this phone number?

This call just repeated that we had received text message and how to respond. No mention of who it was from or a subject, so no chance of us responding - too much spam about. Very interesting to see the suggestion about Amazon as we had just had a small envelope pushed throuh the letterbox by them, without knocking or ringing doorbell.

twice it happened when an Amazon parcel was delivered. This system does worry - not used to SMS.

A recorded message from an educated-sounding man told me that there was a SMS text message; press 1 to hear it, or hang up. There was no mention of my name, or who the call was from, or why. This call was to my Bristol, UK, landline, at 18:01 on a SUNDAY. I put the phone down. A few minutes later the same recorded voice gave the same message. In the meantime I had looked on other sites, and several people suggested it was from Amazon, saying a parcel would be delivered - and the second message was to say it had been delivered. I checked my porch - and a parcel from Amazon had been delivered. No-one had knocked, and the parcel would have been visible from the road all night if I hadn't gone to look. Why oh why couldn't the recording simply have said that a parcel was being delivered, instead of both worrying me and infuriating me? I am assuming that the message was from Amazon.

As with other report(s) - message on our landline saying that we had received a text from this number and we had to press 1 to retrieve it. We don't recognise this number and if it had been a genuine call from BT, they normally say so.

A message was left on our answerphone that we had received an SMS text message from this number, press 1 to listen to it. Number not recognised. Another Who Calls Me? site has a report of the same basic message being received today by somebody else, except theirs was press 3 to hear the message. Strongly suspect scam call.
