The same here. A onetime pass code from Satander for a transfer of £200.39 to Thomas Adewele.
SCAN BEWARE - Text received as follows: SANTANDER: Your One Time Passcode is 230164 for a payment of 200.32GBP to a Thomas Adewele . REF: JX1B9, If this was NOT you, please call us on 0333 015 0956 Have never used Santander so must be a scam as per previous comments.
Similar to the other comments. I had the Santander text stating there had been an attempted Argos purchase. Dubiously I called the number and went through the motions. What was convincing is I wasn't asked to confirm any personal details, what wasn't is that the caller said I needed a new sort and account number to prevent further fraud..... yes and to activate I needed to make a payment into this new account number! This is when dubious turned to disbelief. The scammer was so calm and believable. I ended the call stating I would feel more comfortable doing this in branch The scammer kept up the pretense and after trying to convince me, thanked me for my time and wished me a good evening. He really could have had me. This is my first experience of a scammer.
Yep we had the same SANTANDER BANK scam just now- Argos purchase £259.99 I added my comments to yours. Bastards!
We got a txt FROM THIS NO. - claiming to be Santander bank - about a one time code for a purchase today at Argos of £259.99! We were suspicious…but rang the number and a guy mentioned the Argos purchase (quoting the exact amount and saying “is that correct?” ) and then added two others John Lewis. But we told him nothing and even more suspicious we asked him to confirm another purchases we made today (that we know are real). The line cut out immediately. We called real Santander and they confirmed it WAS NOT THE BANK. BEWARE!!
