I've just (12:45 16/10/25) received a call on my parents landline who, from a younger sounding male. He said that he works for 'Building Regulatory Services, in Kings Cross'. He said he was calling because the company he works for has taken over the company (when I asked, he spelled it as 'LOPALA ICYLENE') that installed the foam insulation and they need to send a new certificate of warranty. My parents are not currently here but on a quick search I found a US company called 'Icynene-Lapolla' (foam insulation Co.) being bought by another US company, 'Huntsman' between 2018-2020. NOT recently, as the caller suggested. He seems to know or just hedging his bets that my parents have already had wall foam insulation? It's probably just phishing calls to get as much as possible/information from you. However, if these people feel they can extract more, they will. I have worked in Fraud for nearly 30yrs. Please..... - Pause before disclosing any personal information. Verify who they are first. If they are legitimate, then they will not mind calling you back at a later date/time - If you feel 'hurried'/unsafe/suspicious (it can be difficult to tell as the callers have been trained very well to deceive), hang up - Check your own information and contact your Bank/Friends/Family that can help you confirm these details - Report to 'Action Fraud' (online or phone) ** Website: www.actionfraud.police.uk ** Call their helpline: 0300 123 2040 (available Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm).
