We received a call today and our answer machine picked up but the call was terminated by the caller without any message. Is this a "Cold Call?" As I understand the UK law it is a crime to do Cold Calls so if this is the case how do we sue the caller?

Claimed to be e-on about a smart meter for gas. They have tried this for over a year now trying to bribe with a free costa coffee and now are trying to bully us. We have refused point blank all year. They can shove the smart meter where the sun wont shine

Caller wanted to fit a smart meter. Said it would do both Gas and Electic for Eon next. I told her that was interesting since Eon didn't provide my gas but happy to have a smart meter for gas. She was a little confused, and a little more when I explained I already had a second series smart meter. So, in summary, there is either incompetence on the part of a energy provider or, more likely, the callers agenda was other than honest. The recording makes interesting listening...... And what do you think?

+442922229992 number keeps calling enon wanting me to have a smart meter, as i had to have one as its part of the fixed rate I signed up for, nothing highlighted this at the time of contract. I dont want one installed, they a right pain, surely having a smart meter installed isnt madatory like they are stating, fed up of the hassle :(

Did not answer, never answer unknown numbers and they leave no message. Like others, suspect it is EOn re smart meters. fed up of their constant texts, emails, calls. I DO NOT want a smart meter. They should be prosecuted for harassment of customers, use real bullying tactics. Bet avoided, let them waste their time and effort.

Someone called Jaye called, claiming to be from "Midland Claims". He had a very strong London accent, and I had to ask him to repeat himself several times, each time repeating in exactly the same way as before! I told him I was not interested, and could hear him continue to babble on incomprehensibly at the other end. Finally I thanked him for the call and rang off.

Its not actually E.On its another company called Firstsource who try to make you think they are E.On, Basically they try to get you to fit a new smart meter making out your old one is faulty. Best advice i can give is hang up and block them. If you do have a smart meter problem contact your supplier direct.

Cold called me. Looked up number to find it's Eon Next. Probably wanting me to have a Smart Meter, I have already been told by Eon Next engineer I can't have one until the fuse box and electric meter are moved. This was reported to Eon Next. Still get letters asking to arrange a Smart Meter instillation, which I now ignore. Contacted Eon Next and informed Eon Next the inspection revealed it can't be fitted. The customer adviser informed me that I wouldn't be contacted again. Seven days later I had a letter letting me know the instillation would be in my area and could I arrange a day that they could fit a Smart Meter. I've stopped answering this number but would like to take this opportunity in wishing the Eon Next staff a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I bet their staff get calls from this number

I am registered with E.on Next not to be contacted with Smart meter information and requests to move to a smart meter. Why do they insist to ignore my requests and continue to spam me by phone call, text and email every week? This is nothing short of harassment and should be illegal. They need their numbers blocked

Suspect this may be EoN trying it on with a 3rd party calling agency to persuade me to instal one of their 'dumb' meters. They have been told in wrtiing and by phone that I do not want any of their con-merchant deals and would prefer my meter readings to be done by me and not some unreliable robot which can go on fire, bill me inappropriately, not work, cause network problems etc.

Assuming this is Eon, they have already sent two engineers to my home to fit smart meters. First one panicked when he found out that we had a back-boiler and did not want to fit one. The second one was very helpful, although very late, and advised that he could not guarantee that the back-boiler would re-start after fitting a smart meter and that it would be very expensive to repair/replace. There was also an occasion when an engineer did not turn up at all. We have received small monetary credits for this and the late arrival. However, Eon should know our situation and stop pestering us about fitting a smart meter that they say must have fitted as we am now on a fixed tariff.

Call went to voice mail but no message left. Assume from comments on here it was Eon trying to coerce me into getting a smart meter. In recent weeks they've also written to say they've made an appointment (without my consent) for one to be fitted. Just ignored this. Will now post news of these call scams to as many sites as I can find.

The people calling from this number are trying to scam you into getting a smart meter - which you don't want as it will allow Eon and the government to spy on you and disconnect your electricity on a whim. My advice is to block this number or if you answer just tell them to FO!

Scammer block it. Someone pushing smart meters would actually know that 2G will soon be phased out, and 3G in due course, and there is little point in fitting 2G meters now. 2G meters will have to be replaced. They should also know who is paying to power the meter (not us!) and to understand and be able to provide a VPN for the connection and an RF filter for protection. (PS If offering a 4G meter, they should also know whether 4G cover is available at your location - if not then call their bluff!)

Rang to say an appointment was needed to fix my smart meter that doesn't work. They told me to ring 0808 501 5200 (E-on Next) to make the appointment which I did. When I got through I was told that they had no record of the call, it must have come from E-on Energy. After a long arguement I gave up.

E.ON pushing smart meters. Been nagging me with letters, emails and phone calls for 2 years. I ignore all. Not interested in a smart meter that can be remotely cut off, hacked, stops working, catches fire etc. The government can stick it up their 'arris, not having one. My old meter runs like a clock and will likely run another 100 years. If mine needs replacing then they can swap like for like or stop billing me. My house, my rules. Not paying for batteries for their bloody monitor either.

I have recieved a call from this number today, a couple of weeks ago i had a conversation with someone who wanted access to my property to change the meter. I contacted EON and they confirmed that was not anything wrong with the meter and they did not know why I had had that call.

Something abut problem with installation and to phone 0800 015 6812 to arrange visit to property to replace. No idea if scam. Called me today, I ignored but found out who it was by looking on this site. They have tried to bully me for last 2 years. One of their meter readers told me that a smart meter would not work in my house because the gas and electric metres are too far apart and the stone walls in between too thick. I've also quoted the government paper issued originally about the roll-out of smart metres, which anyone can view on-line, that clearly states that if an individual does not want one, they don't to have one...end of conversation.
